I mean the whole rick riordan series from Percy Jackson through to the follow on series of the heroes of olympus for the 4th time? I loves them, but I'd rather she reads a wider selection of books.

Is this normal? Wwyd? Dd is 8.

Does anyone else re-read childhood favourites just for comfort? I do. Paula Danziger and Judy Blume. Grin

YABU. Ds1 is on his fourth (at least) reading of the Percy Jackson series and he loves them. It's gotten him right into reading all sorts of stuff.

Well there you go LIZS, if you study literature you have to study multiple books simultaneously, so may she is just building up stamina! Grin

Dd1 would really do your head in - she rereads her favourite parts of books - not the whole book, just selected bits. She also has 2-3 books on the go at one time and flits between them.

Two years ago she was still really struggling to read a short school reader, so actually I don't mind if certain Harry Potter pages are read more than others. Percy Jackson has just entered our lives so I retain the right to withdraw my statement - though surely better than rainbow fairies or Jacqueline Wilson.

Some of the books in our house have been reread so many times tat the ink has been worn faint by my children's eyeballs.

It is a bit frustrating when you are keen for them to explore a billion other books, but rereading is one of the joy of childhood I think.

I read quite a few books twice. I think that Jane Austen is the only person I read more than twice, but that is just because her words are so lovely you can lick them.
