Go downstairs, and tell them to stop what they are doing right this minute and start treating you with some respect.

CaptainSweatPants · 12/10/2013 15:01

Arrange to meet a friend in the pub & leave them to clean

redcaryellowcar · 12/10/2013 15:01

I would hands them some rubber gloves and ask them to do the oven next!? on more serious note, if my pils did this I would be livid, stand up for yourself and ask them to stop. I used to hide from mine as an excuse to bf ds, when perfectly happy to whip a boob out in m&s etc!

redcaryellowcar · 12/10/2013 15:02

oh I like the pub idea.^^

comewinewithmoi · 12/10/2013 15:02

Thanks funky. Dh had had words. Annoying feckers.

Are we related? They sound like my inlaws!
I have started to say "well if you don't like it you know where the door is!"
After 14 years I have had enough of their "helpful" comments. Most recent one being my coffee mugs are too big... erm ok then.

Reastie · 12/10/2013 15:02

YANBU. Nuff said.

comewinewithmoi · 12/10/2013 15:03

Am sitting on bed in a strop.

Oooh I love the pub idea!

RibenaFiend · 12/10/2013 15:04

I'd show them to the cleaning products, the iron and then go to the pub!

comewinewithmoi · 12/10/2013 15:05

Yes pub sounds ace but they won't have cleaned if I go out, they'll just be more mess for me to sort out.

comewinewithmoi · 12/10/2013 15:06

Mil also helped dd sort out her clothes and told her to Bon what she doesn't like.Shock

FunkyBoldRibena · 12/10/2013 15:08

How long are they there for? Is it because it's raining? Can you send them on a mission?

comewinewithmoi · 12/10/2013 15:11

Going tomorrow, thankfully. Tried getting dd3 to convince them to take her to the park. It didn't work, busy, you see, what with pulling crap from under the sofa.Hmm

OP posts:
comewinewithmoi · 12/10/2013 15:12

Not Bon but bin

FunkyBoldRibena · 12/10/2013 15:14

Just tell them your daughter wants to go to the park with them, and it's a waste of a day looking someone else's sofa.

bubalou · 12/10/2013 19:59

Sounds like my MIL - anything to make me feel bad. She doesn't use the cleaning thing but any dig she can make.

Does anyone watch everybody loves Raymond? My DH = Ray, MIL = Marie and me = Debora (only mil is 1,000 times worse).

I avoid them as much as I can and when I can't I am sickly sweet and very blunt.

Wink
StanleyLambchop · 12/10/2013 20:08

Has your DH had words with them or you, sorry it is not clear. Hope they have finished their rummaging around now.

GrandstandingBlueTit · 12/10/2013 20:13

What is wrong with some people? They would never go round to their friends' houses and do that, so why do it to you?

Dawnywoo · 12/10/2013 20:17

Oh fucking hell, this is ringing hideous bells with me. I just got rid of mine (and their son as well)

I still wake up and pinch myself to be sure that they are all gone...

If you love your DP/DH then get them told and get him to get them told. It made me hate mine that he didn't.

Oldraver · 12/10/2013 20:34

What the fuck is wrong with people that they would rather poke their nose around under a sofa than spend time with their GC's ?

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 12/10/2013 20:47

My mum does this when she comes to stay. I'd hung up a (freshly washed, spritzed with lavender water) clean hand towel in the downstairs loo about two hours before she arrived.

The next morning she said 'Do you have another hand towel? This one's a bit... smelly.

There's similar every day. But then, she is brilliant with the kids, and I hate housework, so when she bleaches the loos I just shrug and think 'You think you're making a point. But actually, you're giving me more time to go on Mumsnet.'

IvanaCake · 12/10/2013 20:51

My mum is like this. The first thing she will do on coming here is life up the living room rug to check for dirt underneath Hmm

She spent the whole of my childhood either at work or cleaning the house or tidying the garden. I'm making a point of doing the oposite!

Donkeyok · 12/10/2013 21:09

Oh god that is depressing. Im up for the pub if you are?
