AIBU to think South Essex is a nice place to live?

Southchurch and Thorpe Bay areas look good to me despite being warned off them? Any experience/knowledge of the areas greatly appreciated.

Saffron Walden is vair genteel and in Essex

Rayleigh/ eastwood / hockley is nice enough.
Dont know southend that well - only the shops, has a few grammer schools.
Further out in essex is also ok. Although further from london if your communting.
It is a huge county.
