I think American apparel have gone too far.

gordyslovesheep · 08/10/2013 20:01

it's a t shirt

usualsuspect · 08/10/2013 20:03

It's a bit too'try hard' to be right on.

eggyweggies · 08/10/2013 20:03

I dislike American apparel generally. They have a real 70's porn, sexually exploitative aesthetic to their advertising.

I agree the logo on that t shirt is a bit full-on. I wouldn't wear it, but it doesn't offend me.

meditrina · 08/10/2013 20:04

Feminist and gross aren't mutually exclusive.

Personally, I wouldn't wear Tshirts featuring genitalia of either sex or any species. But there are Tshirts out there that offend me more than this does.

scarletforya · 08/10/2013 20:05

Eurgh! Sad

Tuonz · 08/10/2013 20:05

It's not gross. Wouldn't wear it on a shirt though.

MrsBucketxx · 08/10/2013 20:06

Maybe im old fashioned. I dont get it tbh.

valiumredhead · 08/10/2013 20:06

What usual said.

Smoorikins · 08/10/2013 20:08

What's gross about a bleeding vagina? Surely most women experience that regularly.

Would you start a thread about a t-shirt featuring a bleeding nose?

Grennie · 08/10/2013 20:09

Nope, I don't like it.

Remotecontrolduck · 08/10/2013 20:10

The kind of person who would wear this top is probably someone who's a massive attention seeker and likes to be all controversial and edgy, while everyone just groans at them.

American Apparel is pretty cringeworthy in general.

MrsBucketxx · 08/10/2013 20:11

I wouldn't have a Bleeding nose, or ejaculating penis either.

None of it.

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 08/10/2013 20:13

Yes,definitely for a look at me being all edgy type.

While everyone else thinks wtf are you wearing you twat.

Hamwidgeandcheps · 08/10/2013 20:14

It's rank.

ReluctantBeing · 08/10/2013 20:14

I can't see it being a big seller.

passmetheprozac · 08/10/2013 20:16

it's a t shirt The same could be said about the t-shirts describing motives about domestic abuse.

It is shock for the sake of it. And not the correct medium.

imofftolisdoonvarna · 08/10/2013 20:16

Who the fucking fuck would wear that?

tethersend · 08/10/2013 20:20

Are we saying it's a no for the PTA meeting then?

WilsonFrickett · 08/10/2013 20:49

I think it would be fine tethers - maybe it just needs a MN scarf to dress it up a little? Grin

American Apparel saying its a feminist statement doesn't make it a feminist statement. It just makes it a Tshirt which will provoke debate/clicks/sales. I don't think it's a feminist statement, it's a picture of a vag.

meditrina · 08/10/2013 20:52

The possibilities of wearing to PTA meeting hadn't occurred to me. Do you think I would then never be asked to 'volunteer' for anything ever again?

fuzzpig · 08/10/2013 20:56

Is it just me or is the 'blood' pink? It looks pink on the link anyway.

Menstrual blood is red, right? Or am I a freak...

KirjavaTheCorpse · 08/10/2013 20:57

Well, at least the t-shirt fanjo has pubes, eh? Wink

Gross.

timidviper · 08/10/2013 21:03

smorrikins A bleeding vagina is not gross, it is normal but a bleeding vagina on the front of a t-shirt is gross imo

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 08/10/2013 21:08

The ugly hands would put me off wearing it Grin

Smoorikins · 08/10/2013 21:20

I didn't ask if you would 'have a bleeding nose'. I asked if you would start a thread about a t-shirt featuring one.

Actually it doesn't matter, its not relevant, really.

I don't hate it, not by a long way. Some people are grossed out by a bleeding vagina, men and women both. I can see what the artist wanted to achieve. I'm not sure its the right avenue, but its certainly more accessible to the general population done this way than done as a piece of art that would sit in a gallery.
