To save?

I save almost 1/3 of my wages as I am saving for a flat deposit. Previously I spent a lot on nothing much but now, I sometimes turn down nights out or weekends away as I can't afford them. A certain (good) friend's standard response is "well, you can afford to, you just don't want to," which I suppose is true. AIBU to prioritise savings over socialising? I think she is angry with me.

Yanbu. I put money in savings. I only take it out for emergencies or big purchases. If I dont have any money left in the normal account I wouldn't go on nights out. The only exception would be a family members or very good friends big celebration - but I wouldn't do it often.

YANBU. You've got something you're aiming for, it's not like you're turning into a hermit just so you can pile the stuff up and count it. Beware of 'friends' that want to spend your money for you.

YANBU.

But you can afford to, you are just not prioritising it. (Which is fine imo).

So instead why not say 'I've spent my socialising budget this month' which is more accurate, and maybe won't upset your friend so much.
