What happens to the people who are shuffled out?

Do they remain an MP but not a cabinet member?

Do their wages decrease because of this?

Is it just down to the party leader to shuffle them out?

I can't think of another organisation where you could be chucked out your job because your boss didn't think the public liked you?

Are positions in cabinet renewable contracts so to speak? Which would make sense how they good loose their position after 12 months?

They are MPs so they remain MPs. Yes they'll get a cut in salary (about half) if they are no longer ministers. Yes it's just down to the party leader ultimately although clearly they are going to take the advice of others in their party.

It's not a job as such - they are appointed as office holders, so employment law doesn't apply. They are appointed for as long as the party leader wants them - no contracts.

And I think Channel 4 did exactly that to John McCririck didn't they!?

I can imagine them sat at a big desk shuffling a pile of paper with names on then reading them out, saying ''you can have this dept.'' and you can have that dept.''

I assumed that they put on some music and then all ran around some chairs until the PM pressed the pause button on the tape player.

You are being a bit unreasonable BH. If you thought they lost their job as MPs where did you think the new people came from? Hmm

No notice, although you may see it coming. Sometimes it's done accidentally.

It's one of the reasons why being an MP is a job like no other. And yet we whinge about paying them a decent salary.
