Rugby sets mine off. Shouts at screen, gestures and acts completely demented.

AgentZigzag · 05/10/2013 17:49

Getting into it and swearing at the telly is the reason for watching isn't it? (not for me, I like the tight shirts Smile)

They can safely let off steam without upsetting anyone.

filee777 · 05/10/2013 17:52

The tight shirts and the mud do ease my pain I must say...

Mine can get very shouty when watching a football match. The noise is such that you really would think it was actually taking place in our living room.

He once talked of getting his own TV out in the garden shed (yes, seriously), and I stupidly convinced him it was a daft idea. Perhaps I should have let him do it.

filee777 · 05/10/2013 18:56

A tv in the shed sounds like heaven!

Don't forget the big thighs. We're rugby all the way in this house, but I'm the shouty one.

DameDeepRedBetty · 05/10/2013 19:05

I have cunningly ensured that the computer where I am currently mumsnetting doing this week's invoices is not in the same room as DP and Sky Sports and the remote control.

I think bloody Man U just scored judging by the happy grunty noise that floated up the stairs just now!

mysterymeg · 05/10/2013 19:06

Mine doesn't just watch he plays too Sad this requires attendance at the club every Tuesday and Thursday evening and all day Saturday. As captain he's also constantly receiving bloody rugby related phonecalls and arranging the team eats into every bloody evening with team sheets strewn all over the house. But then he still insists on watching it all the time too!!! I mean really, there is much a thing as too much of a good thing!

And at amateur level the shirts arent even tight but the shorts are nicely short

mysterymeg · 05/10/2013 19:08

DH's thighs may have been an element in me choosing him monstermash Blush

filee777 · 05/10/2013 19:09

You should invite them round for showers ;)

filee777 · 05/10/2013 19:09

OP posts:
mysterymeg · 05/10/2013 19:13

Haha filee he still has ok ears actually thank God!

ScarletLady02 · 05/10/2013 19:13

I swear like a sailor when the rugby's on...love it! My Mum who is so placid normally turns into a demon...I took her to the pub to watch it. She's 5 foot nothing and was shouting louder than ALL the men put together

filee777 · 05/10/2013 19:35

We went to the rugby club when SA beat England last year and husband sat quietly gleeful with his pint.

jammiedonut · 05/10/2013 20:50

Haha I've just had a row with my (South African) dh...I'd fallen over in the shower, cutting my back (not badly but still bleeding everywhere!), and was calling for help for what seemed like forever. Stagger downstairs clutching blood soaked towel. He doesn't even lift his eyes from the screen. He is normally doting and attentive, but whenSA play rugby he is a complete tool. Fwiw he did help me put a dressing on myback, but only because it was half time!

filee777 · 05/10/2013 20:58

I can quite believe it!

Warrington or Wigan fan?

marriedinwhiteisbackz · 05/10/2013 23:17

My DS plays. I cannot watch. In fact he played today. His entire arm is gouged, his left hand is strapped. Last week he could barely move, he had a black eye, and a lump on the back of his head.

DH watches and supports and dad's up. I find it thoroughly unpleasant. In fact if I went I would oooh and aaah and be a total embarrassment.

mayorquimby · 06/10/2013 13:30

Because nfl has no more discipline than any other sport.
They had a bounty scandal last year where a team was paying bonuses for injuring opponents and illegal play ffs.
