DS is 3.
We got up today and he refused point blank to put anything else on but a wee pair of orange pants. Finally managed to get him into enough clothes to stave off a visit from social service when he started taking them all off again. Cue long discussion about the importance of clothes in Scotland in October.
Then I was putting some stuff away and he wanted to see the Nativity set. This ended up with Mary and Joseph having a wee swim in a glass of milk.
Lunch was an agony of indecision between cheese or ham as a sandwich filler and whether said sandwich should be toasted or not.
He had a proper purple faced tantrum because I didn't want to change into my shorts.
And then to top it all off he said "fuck" Shock
I'm thinking hoping, hoping against hope that this is normal toddler behaviour but I'm losing my sanity with it today. Come and tell me what your wee bundles of fun have been up to so I don't feel so alone on Mount Demented.

That's so funny! Mary and Joseph in milkGrin he sounds a bundle of fun! Guess its hard work & I've forgotten what an energy Drain 3 yo can be! I
Remember my DS at around 3 yrs old refusing to wear anything except his sisters gymnastic leotard,( she was 8 at the time! ) and then everything went quiet & I walked into the dining room to find him standing on the dining table stark naked talking to a houseplant Shock Another time he was sat naked on the sofa with his willy dangling in his bag of quavers Grin..... they do change! He is now 16 & tends to stay clothed most of the time, just can't get him off the x box!!
Crack open that bottle, I say!! Wine

Took a lot of persuading to get dd (2 and a half) into clothes too this morning, she was insistent she was going to morrisons in her pyjamas! We then had tantrum number one as she wanted mashed potato for breakfast! Once in the supermarket we had the usual wanting to walk then get straight back in the trolley then be carried, followed by tantrum number 2 because she wanted to hold the bleach! Luckily it was then time to go to grandmas for lunch, where she will remain for another hour or so before I go to pick her up! You're not alone!

Oh we've had a lovely day, me 3yo and me. We started the day off with a lovely cuddle in bed when he got annoyed with the cat being on his legs, told him to get off him and when he didn't listen, kicked him, missed and hit my baby bump, refused to say sorry and spent 20 minutes in his room sulking.

Then we had a lovely breakfast which he refused to eat because he actually wanted a cheesestring and to watch a video and I wouldn't let him because that's not a breakfast and there are no videos until the afternoon, another 20 minute sulk.

His friend came round to play and we made some lovely chocolate muffins when he had a tantrum because his friend had the red mixing spoon and he wanted it, instead of the clearly inferior yellow mixing spoon that I had given him

Now he's having a lovely nap on the sofa in his pants and a tshirt because he took his trousers off because he didn't want to wear them, despite it being rather cold in my house. Refuses to admit he's cold even if his toes are turning blue under a thin blanket.

If you seriously disregard the strikeouts it sounds like a lovely day doesn't it?

SPsTwerkingNineToFive · 04/10/2013 16:16

I have had a day break from the toddler. He is back in a couple of hours. Between coming back and bed at 8ish he will no doubt cry millions of times, break something, complain he is bored, refuse to do anything.

Fifilosttheplot · 04/10/2013 16:29

My DS3 has pulled a fluffy decorative Easter chicken which he found at the bottom of his toy box to pieces so my carpet is yellow. He then tried to eat the pieces and is now wandering over with his tongue hanging out saying it feels funny.

When I asked him what he wanted on his toast this morning he said "chips"

Pass the gin, it's five o'clock somewhere.

Thanks so much, its much nicer knowing you're not going batty on your own Grin
I've just found all the begged for, have to be allowed to eat, so much better than cheese ham hidden behind the curtain. I'm not sure if he's hoarding in case of hard times or he didn't want to eat it. Its beside the radiator so I'm glad I found it sooner rather than later as I'm already trying to deal with some little religious figures who are beginning to smell of yoghurt.
I'm going to wait for DH to come home then I'm going to the shed to fill a bucket with hard liquor and stick my head in it for a bit.

I see your toddler and raise you a 9 year old boys and his friend over for a sleepover.

They are having a belching contest at the dining table and have already made dd cry twice. Now they are pretending they are warthogs and singing out of tune at the tops of their voices using silly voices

Bloody hell...it's only 5.45 and there is no drink in the hoose

LaFataTurchina · 04/10/2013 17:53

It's past 5pm, you're fine!

I looked after 12 2/3 year olds today.
At work, I got to go home at 3pm Grin

In my more deluded moments I think having a couple of children of my own will be a doddle compared to a preschool full. (27 on our busiest day)

spanky2 · 04/10/2013 17:55

I had a shot of tequila about this time last night .Blush

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/10/2013 17:56

I made the mistake of telling DD (2 yo) at 7am that we were going on a boat later. After preschool and her afternoon and dinner, we would get on a boat. Guess how many fucking times I was asked whether the boat was now, with tears or a quivering lip, before 9am. Go on, guess...

spanky2 · 04/10/2013 17:57

Chips on toast sounds yummy ! Needed to take the edge off yesterday as dcs had a fight before school which made us late . Day that followed was rather stressful .
