To think I should have gone into work?

I had gynae surgery last Weds. It went well but the stitches aren't dissolved yet and it's a bigger cut than the surgeon had thought it would need to be.

I went into work yesterday but what with having to wear close fitting underwear it was a bit uncomfortable and I'm keen not to do any damage. All my colleagues were asking what I was doing at work. I said there's nowt wrong with my brain (which there isn't). But I decided I probably need to heal a bit more even though I do a job which doesn't involve strenuous physical activity. So I'm off sick for another couple of days until the stitches have dissolved more than they are now.

But I feel like a bloody fraud. Sad

Dinnae be daft, you've a poorly twat!

If ever there was a good reason to stay off your fanjo and rest this is it!!!

Imnotaslimjim · 02/10/2013 14:28

Bloody hell you're a saint for even trying!!

Get yourself rested, and healed, before you try again. There is no need to push yourself

Well I caught the end of Loose Women talking about public sector employees taking a 'ludicrous' amount of time off sick compared to the rest of europe (ok maybe there IS summat wrong with my brain for watching but I'm BORED).

I work in the public sector and took the odd day off sick before the op because I was in so much discomfort with another problem 'down there' which is how come the GP discovered the thing which needed surgery!!

Think of it as potentially saving them Money than if you hurt your undercarriage and had to have anything else done!

You need to rest. You (and your foof) are only human.

akaWisey · 02/10/2013 14:45

Oh I've never heard it called my foof before, I like that. Grin

Poorly bits should be treated with respect, and allowed to heal, especially when the bits in question are the bits in question. If you see what I mean.

"Dinnae be daft, you've a poorly twat!" is totally true and also the best thing I have read all day.

Aniseeda · 02/10/2013 16:00

You are a lot more dedicated than me. I'd be milking it for all it's worth Grin

Seriously, you have a valid reason not to be working right now and if you push yourself, you'll only end up needing more time off to recover. It's not like you've just got a hangover so don't feel bed.

Fozziebearmum2be · 02/10/2013 16:35

Seriously don't be insane! It's not like you're making it up...and it sounds seriously uncomfortable, demands lots of cake and chocolate to make up for its!

If you feel really bad about time off remember that if you don't heal well now, and give your body the time to rest then you'll end up needing more time off in the future...!

Ps-I'm on mat leave and share your pain about awful daytime tv... Shock

agedknees · 02/10/2013 16:47

Take no notice of the idiots on loose women. I mean you can hardly call their job taxing both physically and mentally.

Do not forget that under the skin your body needs to heal itself. We expect too much of our bodies sometimes.

I am prescribing rest, chocolate and rubbishy tv for you for the next few days (oh and mumsnet of course).

I always listen to the sage advice of MNers'. Which is why I am now resplendent in pj's and I have a small glass of Wine for medicinal purposes.
