to think that 24 hours for a birthday party is not acceptable?

DS2 got a party invite today for a party tomorrow evening. Is this really acceptable as I can't rearrange work at such short notice to be able to pick him up from after school club, can't find time in my working day to buy a present/card etc.

So the upshot is DS2 cannot go but on the flip side, they are in Reception so it would have been a good opportunity to socialise with his new friends.

Is 24 hours notice really sufficient??

24 hours notice, and the party is 5pm on a Wednesday? The poor birthday kid will be lucky to have anyone there at all!

My dd (P2) has been invited to a few parties both with 24-48 hours notice and on a weekday Shock . Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't. Weekdays is cheaper, I used to work weekends, so I couldn't organise a party then. I know the parents that had the "short notice" party said they were counting on a lot of non attendees, they invited the whole class and hedged their bets on a third attending re paying for food.

I really don't see the problem, it's a 5 year olds party not a court summons.
