Hunt has just announced that the CQC is to be given statutory independence so that ministers can never again lean on it to suppress bad news. So, similar to the BofE setting interest rates and not allowing politicians to use rates for political rather than economic ends.

I want to know what is really happening in our healthcare services.

Grovel could you expand on this a bit (yes I could go and use google but that won't further the discussion.)

Sounds good. Not sure I completely understand your post.

Yep this is a great idea and long overdue.

Tiredemma · 02/10/2013 09:01

I dont trust the CQC.

DameDeepRedBetty · 02/10/2013 09:23

Good idea. Well done (for a change).

HumphreyCobbler · 02/10/2013 09:32

Well it IS a good idea. I hope the CQC proves itself fit for purpose in the future though, their track record is patchy to say the least.

The Care Quality Commission, needs to be totally restructured.

yegodsandlittlefishes · 02/10/2013 11:28

What is the Care Quality Commission?

HumphreyCobbler · 02/10/2013 11:37

www.cqc.org.uk/

yegodsandlittlefishes · 02/10/2013 12:21

Ah I see. Good for it to be independent, what point is there of any regulating body if they are not independent?!

TravellingLemon · 03/10/2013 05:39

Yes good news.

Will watch and wait to see if it pans out, or indeed makes a difference.

Hmm
englishteacher78 · 03/10/2013 06:03

I'm not convinced. OFSTED and OFQUAL are 'independent'
