...but to want to gauge my eyes out when people use "...and I" in the wrong place.

It's easy:

Say: "and I" when you would use "I".

I am going to the shop.

You and I are going to the shop.

Say: "and me" when you would use "me" in a sentence.

This is for me.

This is for you and me.

You wouldn't say: "This is for I", so what makes you think a second person makes a difference?

Feeling better already wearing my smug face.

I heard Prince William do it! Yes, that Prince William.Eton educated and grandson of the Queen's English.
He said '... Catherine and I' when it was most definitely 'me' that should have been used.

Me and DH was like Shock eh? Innit...

I had an email yesterday from a colleague: "A, B, C and myself attended a meeting...".

Myself attended a meeting?!

Bloody ridiculous. Shut up if you can't talk proper.
