To just get my clothes in charity shops from now on?

Just been out looking for a suitable outfit for a Christening and (rare) night out.

Am finding that the dresses are too short and tight or so thin and wispy that any puff of air would expose my bum and all tops are either crop/see through/animal print/tartan/delete as appropriate.

I'm short and overweight which obviously doesn't help but I'm starting to understand why some people hate clothes shopping!

I love charity shops and will often find something there that is more suitable and looks better on me but I'm worrying that I'm becoming mumsy/out of fashion (being a Mum of an 11 month old who doesn't read fashion mags and just buy what I like rather than what's 'in fashion')

I feel good about finding something a bit different and also that I'm helping out charities but am worrying that people will think, what the hell has happened to me and that I've let myself go. Am also going out with girls who wear the latest lovely dresses and will feel like the granny of the group, arrrgh!!

I love it when i get something really nice from a charity shop/ebay i get far more excited than when i have bought something new

Yes, to this, it's bit of an addictive thrill isn't it and now I have it for finding great stuff for DD too (DH would never buy anything in a charity shop!)

Yanbu there is absolutely nothing wrong with charity shops and no one cares if your fashionable,as Long as you look and feel nice/comfortable in the clothes you buy then it really doesn't matter.
I live in a town and there is quite a few charity shop here and I always grab a bargain now and again and on stuff I wouldn't have afforded new.

There's a charity shop here where everything is £2-£5 doesn't matter if it has new tags on it.
They don't put out bobbled/sweat stained rags either so it's great.
I got a shirt dress that is in grey condition for. £2 after a little googling it was about £80 new and a skirt with new tags on for £2..love it.

Handy for buy spare dinner sets too for dead cheap as in forever shipping them.

Went to town for a completely different reason, wandered into a charity shop as it happened to be next to the bank, got a lovely long wool/nylon/angora winter coat, mid brown, fits beautifully, £8 Grin
which I hadn't been looking for....altho' I DO need a new coat

You know its often when I go into city centre looking for specific thing traipse round loads of shops and feel depressed and defeated.

I pick up random gems charity shops also love local selling groups and ebay. brought lots new items for me this year all for £1 each. some things never date and they all well known labels.
I love the thrill of never know what will find,

rarly buy new and thats same for husband and kids clothes.

I live in a fairly 'affluent' area (im not 'affluent' I hasten to add)- the charity shops here have amazing bargains- lovely clothes at fantastic prices.

I still have my lightly padded ski trousers that I bought in a charity shop in 1999. Wear them every year in winter when very cold. < had to take the waist in then but now fully extendedSad> Hips still fit.
