to give up on cooking for ap s ?

I don't mean feeding them but actually cooking for them.
we've had 3 ap s so far.
1ap was veggie - no probs for us. I cooked a variety of veggie meals . she didn't like vegetables. she also needed hazelnut syrup but would learn how to work the coffee machine. and would only eat lucky charms for breakfast at £5 a box
2ap - had to drink fresh leaf tea in a bone China mug and only at chicken nuggets and fish fingers.
3ap- current one will generally eat what we cook but only covered with encona sauce.
Aibu just to ask for a shopping list within reason and buy her food and leave her to cook it for herself?
are all ap fussy with food?

Yanbu sounds like you employed a couple of adult sized toddlers Smile
I would just give them an agreed sum of money for groceries and let them feed/cook themselves ,The point of an ap is to make life easier for you is it not.

3ap sounds ok - she is eating what you have prepared. The other two do sound like toddlers. Could you give them a budget as well as the option of a shopping list? Otherwise you may end up with a list that says:

Caviar
Truffles
Lucky charms

I ended up giving my ap the money I would have spent as we had very different likes and dislikes. It was a huge weight off my mind and he seemed fine with it. Be prepared for them to be cooking in the kitchen/leaving pans dirty etc though. Hopefully they can cook!

I don't understand why anyone would go and live in someone else's house, au pair or otherwise, when they're fussy eaters?

I wanted to be an au pair before I found out I'm having a little person of my own to look after first and honestly I'll eat anything put in front of me as long as it's not smothered in sauce (or, alternatively, as long as there's ketchup to smother it in).

It wouldn't be unreasonable to get them to cook for themselves, I don't think.

Ap3 sounds great, she eats your food, just give her the bottle of sauce.

scrummummy · 29/09/2013 21:13

well she eats it sort of I've made things like spag bol/ chicken wraps/ roast chicken/ lasagne but everything is picked at and covered in hot sauceSad

Get Siracha sauce it works out cheaper

MY DD puts it on almost everything

Lonecatwithkitten · 29/09/2013 22:43

I'll balance you up with three APs who ate everything without any sauce or complaints. Mine were all French I don't know if that makes a difference.
