Ds is getting harassed on Facebook and the parents are joining in too. There was a serious threat of violence from the family to my ds so I took screenshots and reported to police. What sort of action should I ask them to take? I don't know what to do! Also the school are saying they can't do anything if its outside of the school gates. I think this is a terrible way to handle such a horrible incident.
Wibu to ask the police to talk to this family in person and risk them showing up here or making it worse? They have been abusive to me too..
Help please!!

I really have no idea, sorry not helpful.

But bumping up for you.

I wish you luck in sorting it, it's not fair on any of you.

I would ask the police to talk to the family concerned. What they are doing sounds like harassment to me, and the police should take that seriously and put the frighteners on them.

I hope you can get this sorted, and that your ds is OK.

I would have thought the police have procedures in place to deal with this situation. It's not uncommon sadly.

I would fully expect them to be making their suggestions to you - not the other way around!

Best of luck with this OP. I would have rung them too.

Hope this link helps you.

Not sure if there is a way you can report abuse to Facebook, possibly get their accounts banned.
In the mean time it would be a good idea to tell your DS to maybe not use his FB page, I know it's not very fair as he's not don't anything wrong, but it would avoid further threats and upset while you find a way to deal with the bigger problem.
I really hope you get it sorted, bullying is horrid, and it's so sad that the net has become rife with it too.

nennypops · 29/09/2013 15:48

It's up to the police to decide what to do. If they think they can prove an offence such as threatening behaviour, I expect they'll arrest and charge the people concerned.

Yes do call police. Print screen everything - Facebook, snapchat the lot. Do not delete anything as the idiots who are doing it have no idea that they are leaving an electronic fingerprint. You can report abusive messages to Facebook. One of my students has been subject to some rather unpleasant harassment; each time she got a horrid message it was reported and the stupid twits who were cyber bullying soon got the message as the accounts were being blocked! The police do take this sort of thing seriously.

Thanks so much everyobe, the police took it seriously but were very impartial..he has gone to speak to the other side. He was quite a scary guy so it should do the job!
