To give my four year old glitter?

I cannot think what possessed me to buy dd a pack of eight different colours of glitter.

It's been 24 hours, and it's been tracked into every room in the house! Dh is giving me a slightly grumpy look. I haven't got the heart to tell him he's got glitter in his eyebrows.

I have a nasty feeling her brother is going to having some very glittery poos in the near future as well.

Lesson learnt I'd say.
Be prepared for glitter everywhere until at least Christmas - sorry :)

Oh dear! Dd has just run through the lounge shouting " we live in a fairy house " with a sort of glitter cloud behind her.

Dh is going to be sooooo pleased when he gets out of the shower. Glitter has been confiscated for time being.

Am wildly incompetent parent!

:o at 'fairy house', that's lovely.
DH is just going to get used to it and sparkle a lot :)

Not incompetent at all, you have just turned DD's world sparkly.

YADNBU!! There will come a time when they will look at you in total disdain when you suggest they make a glittery picture- embrace it!! Grin

Oddsocksrus · 29/09/2013 07:46

But much loved by your little fairy, how happy was she sprinkling her fairy dust
Grin
Sad your dh doesn't appreciate glittery eyebrows

Thanks! Might give the glitter back later... She seems to have enough accumulated around the place to keep her busy for the time being. She is extremely sparkly and keeps running up to me to say " mummy - I am busy glitting"

Rainbow sparkles everywhere! Their feet are covered!

Glitter is one of the very best things about having a 4 year old. I really miss it. Living in a sparkly house is lovely

feetheart · 29/09/2013 07:57

DO NOT give the glitter back. If you have 8 pots you will still be sparkling by the time she is 18 :)
A very gentle 'I think we have enough pretty sparkles for now' and hide the rest forever.

Sokmonsta · 29/09/2013 08:25

Oh bless, that's made me smile. I still remember dts first Christmas. They were old enough to grab tinsel and things. Which I didn't realise until the first tinsely poop!

Catmint · 29/09/2013 08:30

Glitter glue is your friend. DD gets to make stuff sparkly & it is a bit easier to manage than loose glitter.

jojane · 29/09/2013 09:31

Dd stuck a picture on get bedroom wall with purple glitter glue!
She is very crafty and our house regularly has glitter, sequins, millions I cut up bits of paper etc etc in the most unlikely of places.
Try and keep it to one area ( and don't give her a little jar of glitter from the fairies which she then proceeds to sprinkle over everything to bring it to life)

Sparklymommy · 29/09/2013 09:39

Our house is constantly glitterified! Hence my name!

It's lovely to have fairy dust everywhere.

On a separate issue, don't ever think its a good idea for the "fairies" to leave little gifts at their doors (narly tree roots). I started this on a walk with my two youngest children two years ago and they STILL expect the fairies to leave then a Kitkat or Freddie bar whenever we go past a certain tree!

We made a lovely carnival float with lots of sequins and glitter. It was meant to be a peacock, so lots of turquoise blue ones - very recognisable.

That was FOUR years ago, and I still find blue sequins regularly embedded in upholstery and carpet.
