How can people (specifically parents) not know about strikes?

I asked on our local FB mums site whether anyone knew which schools were closed for strike action, or if there were any rumours as to who will be closed.

Several mums commented, really surprised that there was going to be any action. I mean it's been everywhere! How can you not know?! Do people not read the news?

Louise - no strikes in Wales as the Welsh Education Secretary has agreed to include the Unions in the discussions about any changes to terms and conditions and educational changes. THat's all Gove has to do to stop the strikes in England, but the twat would rather inconvenience every parent than ask experts for advice...

I'm guessing a lot of people are unaware because only a few areas are affected on Tuesday.

I work in a primary school and was not that aware of when it was until Thursday. Ours is one of the few schools in the area staying open. I am more worried about my own job when my role becomes part of the councils single status agreement. Enforced pay cuts, take it or leave it. How many people know about this? I certainly didn't till I started my job.a year ago.

Who reads a daily newspaper, any more??

It Has NOT been on national BBC news radio which I listen to constantly, I haven't noticed anything in the papers when I pause over them in the library either. So I only found out when schools notified us (high schools closed, primary open).
