you shouldnt have to bloody lose half an hour from your lunch break ! surely if you only take 45 mins that should cover it? Also Im in most mornings at 8.20 and we dont have to be here until 8.45 ! Grrrrrr

Who has told you to take a shorter lunch?

Vintageclock · 23/09/2013 13:50

Maybe they're trying to discourage too many staff from asking to take shorter lunches and leave early?
It does sound a bit unfair thoug.

Ummm, if you need to leave 15 mins early, you take 15 mins less on your break. Your time is still your time. Work don't get more of it just because you have to move it around a bit. (Assuming you asked properly, etc.)

Scholes34 · 23/09/2013 23:05

Leave half an hour early then.

Retroformica · 23/09/2013 23:55

Yep leave early

Groovee · 24/09/2013 09:24

I'd leave 30 minutes earlier then. If the sales manager has an issue with it, teach them how a clock works.

rattlemehearties · 24/09/2013 09:35

Is this an everyday arrangement or just a last minute one today? If it's short notice and a one-off then I think it's reasonable for your manager to ask you to work more of your lunch hour to ensure your work is done by the time you need to leave (as there's no option of you staying late to finish up).

SilverApples · 24/09/2013 09:41

If you are in at 8.20am, are you doing activities that you could be doing at the end of the day? Or are you pottering around with a mug of tea?
I'm in work early, but if I pushed off 15 minutes early, that wouldn't work out as my class wouldn't be taught.
So if you are in sales, do you sell stuff up to the last minute of your day?
Is the Sales manager usually reasonable and flexible, or wants everyone to work their contracted hours exactly, and punishing people that don't?
And is this a one off, or do you need to renegotiate terms and involve your union?
