I was having a clear out yesterday (flylady style) and found many lost lonely socks which threw in the bin. Today I found my husband matching sock (his favourite warm mountain climbing socks. Now the bin is full of old food waste and a dead mouse (clever cat). Should I do the right thing and retrieve sock (aaarggh) or what he doesn't know won't hurt him?

Buy him a new pair and then come clean!

This is why all socks go in a basket in my house and I pair them up twice a week. This happened after too many socks went in the bin one days before their long lost partner had turned up. Plus DS1 has form for leaving odd socks everywhere and I was sick of having to replace them.

If expensive I would try and retrieve. You could tell your DH what has happened and ask if he wants it rescued or to buy another pair.

No! Buy him some new ones. Just think Mickey has a lovely cosy cushiony resting place.

Thanks icelolly that's a better image than coffee dregs splattered over him. I like stawberrys idea of a singles club sock basket. I've just had a bottle glass of wine to build up the courage to face the bin in light of the trauma but really it's just made me feel lazier. So a new pair it is. After all it's not right to disturb the dead.
