To think this is an ok post hysterectomy plan?

I found out yesterday that I have a date for a hysterectomy in a couple of weeks and I really do need it done.

Op on Wednesday and out on Friday all being well.

DS2 has an open day at Livepool uni on the Saturday and DH will need to take him up on the Friday (DS2 had ASD and we do need to attend with him).

AIBU to think I'll be ok at home with DS3 who is 12 while DH is away till late on Saturday? I'm opting for an epidural rather than a general anaesthetic.

No horror stories please - for obvious reasons Smile

As keen as your ds is to help, is he likely to get very engrossed in the computer games?

Can I suggest that if he has a mobile, he has an alarm set for every hour/90 mins/2 hours and that he has to pause game a d come up to see you?

He sounds lovely and I'm sure wouldn't deliberately ignore you, but I'm all to aware of how dc can lose hours to games!

I would also suggest a simple checklist by your bed with any meds you need to take, so;
Pill x, every 4 hours-then he writes the time you had it
Pill z, every 6 hours-as above.

No room for error and if you are on anything it would be a lot for him to remember times of pills if you are drowsy.

Can I just add that after a couple of days the wound will hurt more due to swelling etc. I know I struggled more on my third and fourth day than any other. However you will be fine. Tell your dh to get some lovely pre cooked or no cook food in for you all. Yu won't be eating a lot anyway just nibbling trust me. One hint is you need a big pillow for bed. For some insane reason I could only lie half on my back and half on my side so slept with a pillow propped behind me. Get the dh to go shopping before he goes. Lots of mags for you and kids plenty for them to do and as I said lots of snarky stuff. It will be fine. Good luck x

Lots of good practical ideas here thanks. Smile
One of the things I have plenty of is big pants - I'm so looking forward to being able to wear ordinary sized pants but I may need a tummy tuck first. My tummy already looks like an Austrian blind.
Such a shame they can't do both at the same time. Smile
