to think a doctor's receptionist should know better...

(Yes. It's a receptionist thread again) ... than to make any comment on the good/bad nature of a patient being pregnant.

To clarify: I was asked when making an appt if I'd mind saying what it was about. I said I might be pregnant (this is in some doubt despite ttc, hence the appt).
She said: well that's good news. Congratulations.

The tone of surprise was odd but it was more that I have to admit to being somewhat amazed that a gp receptionist should be so naive as to assume that a pregnancy is always good news. aibu? Maybe I'm just feeling a bit over sensitive because I'm in limbo here. I'm ready for MN to put me right if so.

Yanbu. IMO receptionists should make the appointment and not ask further questions, that's what the doctor is for. The receptionists at my doctors do the same though.

YANBU. Thankfully I moved from a surgery where the receptionists would practically want your medical history before saying whether you might be allowed an appointment to one where they bend over backwards to try and fit you in or offer a gp to call you.
