To want to cut the estate agent sign off my fence

A nearby property is up for sale and their estate agent has attached a small arrow sign to my fence (to direct traffic the property) without asking my permission. I think it's rather rude of them to have done this and think they should've asked first. It doesn't help that I've dealt with that agent before when trying to sell my place and the service was so bad (lots of errors, not returning calls, etc) that I sacked them after 3 months, so I have no time for them at all. I really feel like removing it so WIBU to do so?

YANBU. Then send them an invoice for your time.

Morgause · 18/09/2013 15:23

YANBU. Remove it and dump it.

RobotHamster · 18/09/2013 15:24

Yep, ditch it.

SkinnybitchWannabe · 18/09/2013 15:24

Remove it straight away. Cheeky sods

LividofLondon · 18/09/2013 15:40

I like the idea of invoicing them for your time Grin

BlueGoddess · 18/09/2013 16:06

Stuff invoicing for your time - you need to be invoicing for the damage caused to your fence by them sticking screws/nails in it!

vtechjazz · 18/09/2013 16:07

No you fool! Turn it so it points the wrong way!!!

BrokenSunglasses · 18/09/2013 16:09

You did the right thing moving it. They will put it back up again unless you tell them not to though, so I would make a complaint.

LividofLondon · 18/09/2013 16:33

Haha at turning round the wrong way Grin

Thankfully it didn't do any damage as they used cable ties to secure it to a post, so all I had to do was cut it off. If I was going into town one evening I might be inclined to stick it in their letter box so when they came to open up in the morning there'd be a sign poking out Grin

I suppose I should call them and complain but to be honest I gave them a piece of my mind when they were working for me and I really don't want to have to speak to them again. But if another sign goes up I shall.

Personally I'd take the sign to to said nearby property, knock the door and in a resigned yet very friendly voice ask whether they would please return it to their agents the next time they see them, and please ask them not to trespass on your property and install signs without asking permission. Then when nice House Sellers start apologising, smile and say 'It's ok. I wasn't surprised: when we tried to sell our house through these guys, the service was so bad that we sacked them after three months. Hope you have better luck dealing with them...' :)

LividofLondon · 18/09/2013 16:43

Good plan TalkativeJim. I did have a glance at the property and it looks empty but I shall knock and check. It would be good to let the sellers know of my crap experiences as I don't think the agent deserves to be in business IMO.

Jim is an evil genius. I like it.
