To not want to pay icandy £50 to fix my apple chassis ?

I send my 10 month old apple chassis to be repaired as it has been collapsing . They got back to me after two days saying the needed the seat unit too . So now two weeks later they have contacted my retailer to say the fault is due to excessive weight being put on it and they can either send it back of repair it for a fee of £50 . I am absolutely not accepting this . Apart from the fact I really don't have a spare £50 I paid over £700 for a pram that's broken within the first year and they want me to PAY to have it fixed ???

They've said they put it on a machine to test it as it said its been excessive weight . His pram bag is on it all the time and sometimes dds school bag but that's it other than the occasional bag of shopping (ie clothes/make up etc) if I go to town. I'm fuming I love that pram but I am absolutely not willing to pay to get it fixed . I need to phone icandy directly (ASAP as I won't get another chance) I'd like to know my legal rights before phoning them . Thanks

Sorry I forgot to update had a busy day yesterday !! Icandy absolutely would not budge and neither would I so the retailer has agreed to meet the cost this time . Which I do feel bad about because they are a small business trying to survive and I'm really disappointed in icandy that its came to this and I've changed my opinion on them the quality really isn't what I thought it was but I still think it looks gorgeous and I would never recommended them now Sad

That's really surprising. I got my iCandy Apple in 2008 and it's survived 2 children, daily use of around 4-5 miles a day, tackled snow and rough woodland, and only now is it starting to get a bit rickety. Did the quality take a sudden downturn? I won't risk it if they've got this reputation now.
