to buy a coat I love that doesn't really fit me properly?!

I have seen a coat, it's the sort of style I've been looking for for ages. It looks great undone, right shoulder and sleeve fit and good length. However I can't do it up due to having an awkwardly large chest - not massive, just bigger than most people my size (all natural may I add). I absolutely love the coat and it's in the sale. No other sizes available in stores nearby nor online. I've got on hold til tomorrow. Question is - will it be obvious that I'm wearing a coat I can't button up? AIBU to spend money on something that doesn't actually fit me properly and probably never will?

I do this with cardigans, because I never button them.

If you don't want to button the coat, then go for it.

It may not be to everyone's taste but pepperberry designs clothes for larger busted women (although they are pricy and I tend to buy in the sale or on ebay)

I hope it works for you OP.

I have an unbalanced bust vs rest of body ratio. My body is 12/14, but tailored or un-stretchy sort of garments (which i avoid) would need to be an 18/20 to fit over my boobs.

Every winter i hanker after a raincoat - cream perhaps, military style, collar up, double front, casually belted with the belt tied in a knot

The reality of my body shape in one of these coats done up like this is enough to make me cry laughable. I look like a parcel of laundry which is being strangled around it's middle :(

I have small boobs and it would never occur to me that someone might be wearing a coat that doesn't do up over theirs. Yanbu

Oh dear, I feel your pain ... but NO, I've been there, done that, had coats, jackets that had to be left open because they wouldn't do anything but s-t-r-a-i-n over my chest if I fastened them.

On the other hand, if the coat is going dirt cheap, then yes, buy it, leave it open. But if you want it to be a fastened up coat, then no.
