Sorry to post on AIBU but I think it gets the highest traffic!!! We are having a girly meet up in London to cheer a friend up, we live all over the place so thought this was the best place to meet. There will be 6 in total, most of us in our 40's with kids. This is not something we have done before but really excited about catching up with everyone. So what do you suggest we do? Haven't sorted accommodation yet but suggestions for somewhere Sat night in November, don't fancy a show as we can't talk, a nice restaurant/ wine bar maybe? I need your recommendations please!?

What's the budget?

squeaver · 14/09/2013 16:12

The Hoxton Hotel is very cool and reasonably priced for London. It's in Shoreditch where there are loads of great bars and restaurants plus shops (Spitalfields market etc).

FreudiansSlipper · 14/09/2013 16:17

Look on lastminute.com for deals can get deals on restaurants and hotels

I think a serviced apartment might be better value and more fun. Look up Marlin Apartments.

Blu · 14/09/2013 16:29

Will you have the kids with you?

wonderingsoul · 14/09/2013 16:30

ohh agree apartment would be cheaper, with every one putting in, could even make it a weekend thing? as im sure you have to have them more than one night?

dinkystinky · 14/09/2013 16:37

Or check out air bnb too for accommodation

Blu · 14/09/2013 16:38

I agree that a flat, apartment or house would be best search this site. Some looked v good, and a good deal, if you sort 'price ascending' once you have done your date search. Cheaper per head than a hotel, anyway. Unless I have missed something!

dollywashers · 14/09/2013 17:19

Depends on budget. And whether you'll have kids with you. The Charlotte Street hotel is lovely for a meet up and a cocktail.

yummumto3girls · 14/09/2013 21:01

Thanks everyone, NO will def not have kids! And it will be two nights so apartments sound like a better option. Thanks for your replies everyone.

This is good value and very central. I've used it before and it was great. www.citadines.com/en/uk/london/holborn_covent_garden.html

Cosy boutique B and B here ?

Trendy and cosy for a good old catch up? Nice walks and coffee/restaurants nearby.

yummumto3girls · 14/09/2013 21:43

Thanks everyone, keep them coming, I'm working through your suggestions! The Marlin Apartments seem like a good option. Thank you.

Don't forget the premier inn type places. Some are great and if you go south of the river it's a bit cheaper and makes a black cab or two worthwhile for a jaunt north to say chelsea/covent garden, etc

Finola1step · 14/09/2013 22:44

Have used the Marlin apartments at Empire Square (during building works at home) and can highly recommend. Near London bridge and borough market (fab for food, drinks etc). Would also recommend shad Thames area. If you have children with you, try Science Museum, Tate modern, or the v and a if you have girls (or boys) v interested in fashion and design. At that time of year avoid... Hamleys.

Come out west to Richmond, it's on the main trainline and the end of the District tube line so easy to get to, you can stay in the premier inn then spend days having wrapped up walks along the Thames, exploring Kew gardens, have nice coffee and lunches in the many cafes then drinks and dinner in the many cosy pubs and lovely restaurants. There are some nice shops if you like shopping and some nice galleries nearby if it's drizzley. Other nice things nearby are Hampton Court Palace and the London Wetland Centre, depending on what kind of things you like doing. Enjoy your peaceful weekend!
