AIBU to hate anything Bugaboo

Because I'm trying to rationalise it. I know they're supposed to be quality products and everything, but it's just the sight of the the brand/logo.... I can't stand them.
I've tried to think this through. Is it jealousy? No, as I could buy one if I wanted. I really can't think of the real reasons
Why do I have a weird hatred of a pushchair brand FFS?!

you know YABU. It's odd to spend time hating a random thing that never did you any harm, just because.
Could still be that you secretly want one - I can afford lots of stuff that I don't buy, because I consider them too extravagant, but I would still not mind if I had one.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/09/2013 20:25

Our chameleon has been in use for over five years now. We have taken it though sand, snow, mud, all kinds and it has coped with everything.

Brilliant value for money, which is not the same as cheap.

Bamboobambino · 14/09/2013 20:35

No I definitely do not want one.
Softly (see above) has hit the nail on the head for me. I certainly don't think the brand is chav, far from it. However around here, it is the buggy of choice for the coffee shop frequenting NCT groups.
Perhaps it's some sort of desire not to conform on my part, I'm not sure.

YABU, love my Bugaboo Bee. Live in 1st floor flat in a city with no car. It's light, compact, great on pubic transport and in different weather, very comfortable for DD. What's not to like?

FirstStopCafe · 14/09/2013 21:56

YABU I love my cameleon. Got it second hand from family so it has had 6 years of use now and is still in great condition.

FloraPost · 14/09/2013 22:38

YABU, I absolutely can't wait until DS1 no longer needs a pram so I can ditch the city select and get my lovely cam back down from the loft for DS2.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 14/09/2013 22:43

Where on earth are they chavvy? Definitely not around here.

Chav buggy of choice is the all-singing-all-dancing expensive Maclaren in my neck of the woods.

5madthings · 14/09/2013 22:53

yabu i have a bugaboo frog. have had it ten yrs and used it for four children on fields, the beach, through snow etc and its been fab. a real workhorse and all the covers etc go in the washing machine, comes up like new.

love it.

had lots of other orams for ds1 and all were crap in comparison. the only ither pram i love is my nipper 360.

upsidedownbacktofronttopsyturv · 14/09/2013 23:13

I don't like the look of Bugaboo.

Round my area they are the choice for 30 something middle class. The choice for "Chav" in my area is the this type, the Juicy Mclaren (I think) or the 3d silver cross.

mam29 · 14/09/2013 23:21

Blush had 2cams, 2frogs and 1 bee

concluded both shit in snow-dont go mountains, beach much 3wheeler handled much better,

that they overpriced.

freinds with bee +/donkey had too many faults,

bee had issue with brakes and shimmy wheels.
carrycots tiny too flimsy.
mine dident relly like bucket seat.
handlebar had habit slipping.
seat unit child age 3 ,ook silly in it yet said up to age 4.

donkey and buffalo just greedy prices

loads more competion these days.

1st pram was cam 2006 john lewis would now cost 900 and more than dhs 1st pram/

bugaboo shit customer service,

give me a stokke then im in love.

have love/hate relationships with bugs.

YummyMummy2Twins · 14/09/2013 23:37

Love my Bugaboo Donkey. Not because of the brand but for me it's flexible and light. Adjusts in height for me and DH and we won't have to buy another buggy for a few years.

YABU like you said is probably the conformance that you hate. I hate to conform to fashion. Why should I be dictated to wear what I probably would never wear and spend loads just to be 'in fashion'. So I get where your coming from in that perspective.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 14/09/2013 23:42

Really don't get the mn attitude to bugaboos. No-one gives a crap about what pram you have, unless it's a Bug, in which case people seem to care a lot. Totally irrational and ridiculous.

Btw I love that it takes 2 seconds for me to click my Bee up into place without taking the wheels off and all that faff. I really don't think the Bee is that expensive either. The Uppababy Vista costs more than our Bee did, plus carseat.

Famzilla · 15/09/2013 00:04

Where I come from, bugaboos are always owned by women over the age of 30 who are (or pretend they are) MC. They are always sporting the standard yummy mummy 'just come from the gym' outfit & their kids (Hugo darling & Jocasta sweetie) are being loud parented in the local independent coffee shop, "look darling that organic sandwich has chicken in it, can you spell chicken? That's right you know all about chickens because daddy has some on the 22 acre farm he just bought doesn't he?".

Oh and they always bought it 2nd hand Hmm

Or

They're bought by DP's competitive friends who not only copied our DD's name (their DD is a month younger than ours) but frequently like to message DP about all the expensive stuff they bought, comparing our daughters development & just generally showing off.

I'm irrationally negative about bugaboo owners. But that is literally because the above are the only ones I have met. I'm sure some are lovely. they're not really 'chavvy' round here, iCandy & silvercross are.

mam29 · 15/09/2013 06:17

God the rows I seen about bugaboos over the years.

used to be on baby centre buying for baby where bug fas would have a go at people for buying cheap copies.

In 2006 when pfb was born there were few rear facers on market.

Bug was height of fashion due to gwneth and other celebs.

my brand new cam cost £600 in jl.

I was for that tme smugaboo.

but after months I sold it and got a mountain buggy as walked a lot, they seemed to hate bucket seat and needed stroller for bus.

dd2 decided

try 2nd hand stokke explory adored. and 2nd hand frog.
2nd hand bee which i liked but was hard to do with one hand whilst carrying baby.

but once again after carrycot mode just got bored of it.

by time no 3 was born so many others on market ended up trying a buzz and oyster.

I did then buy another 2nd hand cam but regretted it.

im done with bugs my love affiars over.

They still popular round here.

know so many freinds who had issues with donkey.

the bee plus has shimmy wheels recall over brakes.

The buffalo looks overprced.

i candy seems more the pram of the moment these days.

By time no 3 was

Chottie · 15/09/2013 07:59

I love Bugaboos too. So practical.

OP what's wrong with having an opinion on Bugaboos? There are loads of other buggies around, so you don't have to buy one :)

miffybun73 · 15/09/2013 08:07

YABU, different things annoy different people, but I loved my Cameleon!

I used it almost daily for 2 DCs over 4 years and then handed it to my sister to use for her newborn. At that point I washed all the fabric and cleaned the wheels and it was as good as new.

I know people who bought prams for half the price and had to bin them after 2 years use so actually unless you only have one child and mostly use the car then they are cost effective as well as comfortable for the child and effortless to push.

Bamboobambino · 15/09/2013 08:08

Famzilla! Snigger. My area is FULL of the first sort you describe.

miffybun73 · 15/09/2013 08:08

Meant to say, YANBU, different things annoy different people...

chebella · 15/09/2013 08:16

Wow. Who honestly puts that sort of effort into an emotion over a pram?! Think you and famzila need to get out more.
