AIBU to not want a toddler trying to climb on my lap when I'm on the loo?

I just want to poo in peace. That's all really.

YANBU but it's not going to happen.

eatriskier · 12/09/2013 08:25

Its even more fun when they're potty training and decide they want to use the loo whilst you are literally sitting on it Confused

My dog wants to sit on my lap when I'm on the loo

diddl · 12/09/2013 08:29

Ooh-lighten up-you'll miss it when it stopsGrin

Our cat jumps on my husband's lap when he's sitting on the loo!

PollyPlummer · 12/09/2013 08:29

Its not going to happen. My bloody cat gets on my lap when the dc are in bed.

Fleta · 12/09/2013 08:31

Fix a lock to the door. Shut the door and lock it. Et voila!

chickenschicken · 12/09/2013 08:31

My friend told her husband the best part of their honeymoon was that she could poo in peace!

livinginwonderland · 12/09/2013 08:32

My cats sit on my lap when I'm on the loo. If the girl gets on, her brother gets stroppy and tries to push her off so he can get attention instead!

Yonihadtoask · 12/09/2013 08:37

Why put up with it?

Put baby somewhere safe (in front of teletubbies used to work for me!), go to loo.

Seaweedy · 12/09/2013 09:35

We live in a rented house with no internal door locks, so if I go to the upstairs loo, he is able to let himself in. If I go to the downstairs loo, which was for a while my salvation as it has a little catch on the inside, he demonstrates his newfound lock picking ability, and opens the door and comes in for lap time. If I close the stair gate and go to the upstairs loo, leaving him downstairs, he stands shouting 'Mama, Mama, MAMA!' Until I get constipation. Not even Fireman Sam DVDs distract him...

YANBU

I used to have toys or something and leave the door opening DH wasn't around Blush lessens the mystery!

MsVestibule · 12/09/2013 10:06

Couldn't care less about it. If they wanted to sit in my knee, so what? If it had bothered me that much, I suppose I'd have locked the door but then had to listen to the screams outside the door when they discovered I'd abandoned them for more than a millisecond.

Very envious of parents who could just park their young DCs in front of Cbeebies so they could get stuff done. I had to wean my DD on to TV Confused.

WidowWadman · 12/09/2013 18:51

Yoni - "baby" is almost 2 and a half, and very determined - really should have locked the door.

yanbu. DD tries to cuddle me whilst I'm having a poo. which is sweet and all, but not really the right time!

cathpip · 12/09/2013 19:26

Yanbu. My dd joins in by sitting on her potty and giving a running commentary, " I squeezing out a big poo mummy, are you squeezing out a big poo?" Not what I want to hear.......

littlewhitebag · 12/09/2013 19:29

Our dog barges into the loo and licks my knees!

TwoAndTwoEqualsChaos · 12/09/2013 19:31

YANBU, but you haven't got a chance, really.

Cathpip yup, my DC3 2 1/2 does EXACTLY that!

ChunkyPickle · 12/09/2013 19:41

Mine's normally uninterested (although likes to be in the room).

Occasionally he's asked to help wipe, and there was the one time he brought his torch to have a look...
