to buy DS a (real) drum kit for his 5th birthday?

DS had a toy drum kit for his second birthday, and he absolutely loved it. When it eventually broke through overuse, and couldn't be mended, he kept asking for another one, and after 6 months we did buy him another. That one also fell apart through overuse.

He wants a real drum kit, has been asking for ages, and I am bidding on ebay for a second hand one now. Goodness knows where I am going to put it...

Obviously, I want to encourage him to be musical (we are a fairly musical family). BUT we live in a small terraced house! Even with blankets stuffed inside all the drums and practice pads on top of them, this is bound to be noisy. AIBU?

We got an electronic drum kit for ds3, and honestly, it was pretty noisy too.

Yep, it sounds like you're hitting a series of buckets. Grin

Still quieter than a full kit though. Your neighbours will thank you, OP.

I was coming on to say YABU, YAdefinitelyBU, but then I saw you'd gone for an electronic kit instead. You get a good neighbour gold star from me! (Yes, I live in a terraced house...)

Yeah! Great! Let us know how he gets on with them! At least you know you can get a fair bit for them second hand if he gets bored with them in a few months/years.

Thanks again folks. DH has been to pick them up tonight, has seen them working and says they're great Smile he is going to hide them in mils garage until DSs birthday next week.

I think DS suspects he is getting drums... Well let you know how we get on.
