I have some fairly nice neighbours upstairs. We live in a situation that if we didn't get on life would be Hell. Mega thin ceilings, shared back patio, and you can hear each other's every word.

So, we try to be nice to each other while maintaining a facade of a respectful distance, quite hard.

I leant them my rollers, spare paint and diy things to help them out with some paint work.

They didn't return but instead left outside in the back yard,.covered in paint submerged in dirty paint water in the container I'd leant them And didn't tell me theyd left it there!!

I've already plucked up the courage to say something, along the lines of, could you clean and return, and nothing! I don't think I'm being unreasonable to be pissed off frankly, but am I being unreasonable to ask for the 15 quid to pay for what's been spoiled?

We leave here in two weeks for good and they are skint btw...

Yanbu, but they've ruined your things, you've asked them to return them and they haven't responded.

You could ask them for the £15 but I doubt you'd get it.

They're obviously not as nice as you think.

You're leaving soon, so if I was you I'd chalk it up to experience.

Of course YANBU but good luck with that if you're leaving in a fortnight and they've already ignored an attempt from you to ask for them back in a decent state!

For £15, I'd be inclined to leave them there for the lazy sods to clear up themselves once you've gone - not worth the atmosphere for your final two weeks and if they're skint, you probably won't get the money anyway.
