I am a total convert. Mixed with tonic or bitter lemon it is perfect for any post five o clock scenario or meal. Also, it works out cheaper, doesnt get you as tired and you wake up feeling refreshed.

Lovely though gin is, it's a summer tipple, and unsuited to a chilly evening.

Jack Daniels mixed with Bottlegreen Ginger and Lemongrass Presse is the way to go when it gets chilly outside.

I tend to agree, nancerama. My dad used to have a G&T every evening in summer when he got in from work, while he read he paper.

In winter, he switched to a sherry.

May I suggest Finlandia Grapefruit Vodka to the Gin haters?

Never drank gin till a few years ago. I insisted I didn't like it (had never tried it). Friend offered me some Hendricks with tonic, lime and ice. Where had it been all my life - we finished the bottle.

I had sloe gin with a dash of hot water tonight for medicinal purposes .... Lovely

Gin used to make an ex of mine very verbally aggressive. But I used to like it, and vodka, but not these days. In a bar in Hong Kong my late husband and I used to frequent, I was known as 'Bloody Mary'! Only white wine now.
