Jimmy's Farm and food???

I get extremely cross at being ripped off on days out with the kids when purchasing food.

But yesterday took the biscuit in my opinion and wondered if I was being unreasonable.

Took DS to a party at Jimmy's Farm. Lovely place, lovely weather, disappointing craft market (but that's another story!). DH, I and DD ordered a sausage in a roll at their outdoor kitchen thing. &10.50 was the grand total.

Imagine my shock when the food was presented. A cotton wooly pappy roll of the type you buy in major supermarkets at about 10 for a pound filled with what looked like piled onions and one very very sad little sausage. I'm talking a sausage that spanned the length of half of the roll, about 3.5 inches!!

Now, I know these places need to make money but if our cheeky chappy makes money on the television harping on about what food contains I would expect him to take a whole lot more pride in what he dishes up in his establishment.

I would have expected a hunk of baked on the premises baguette, filled with yummy caramelised onions and a big whacking rare breed banger. I would have paid more for that and would not have been disappointed.

To top it off the crappy sauces available to go on our food were most certainly the bright sugar filled variety and not the quality Stokes stuff they have in their shop for a horrendous mark up!!

Ggggggrrrrr, sorry, was v v hungry and cross. I expect it from big companies like the one that owns legoland and Chessington but thought Jimmy would have been above serving crap for a fortune.

No 3 very substandard hot dogs. So £3.50 each.

Are you confusing Jimmy with Jamie Oliver??

PrimalLass · 08/09/2013 11:49

Email or Tweet. That's very disappointing.

What a shame!

We ate in the restaurant and the kids' food was fab, proper food (slabs of pork and big sausages) rather than pandering to the chicken nugget brigade.

Moln · 08/09/2013 11:50

Jimmy's Farm is well know for being an over expensive place for food I believe.

Though quality should be good by default!

Moln · 08/09/2013 11:51

Jamie and Jimmy are connected arent they?

GibberTheMonkey · 08/09/2013 11:53

In that they are friends yes

LEMisdisappointed · 08/09/2013 11:53

£3.50 is about average price for a hotdog though isn't it? so i would expect average hotdogs.

LEMisdisappointed · 08/09/2013 11:54

out of the same mold the two Js they could be the two Ps, posey and pretentious. Can't be doing with it

Madamecastafiore · 08/09/2013 11:57

No confusion.

Can't fault Jamie's meatWink. Had lovely ribeye from Barbecoa on Friday night and was less expensive than what was on sale in Jimmy's farm shop.

Didn't know it was known for ripping people off. Thought Jimmy would have more scruples.

DS had sausage and mash as part of party which looked good, although the gravy looked like it most certainly was out of a packet. You could smell it from 10 paces!!

They had cakes and biscuits in a chiller cabinet with cheeses too ( blue cheese tinged brownie anyone) and some lovely samples of oil to try with some bread (which I wouldn't have tried anyway) but was interesting to watch one guy double dipping into them!!! Shock Bleugh.

Maybe pregnancy is heightening my feeling if everyone disappointing me!!

Wasn't an average hot dog though Lem. Was well below par!
