Go back to the GP and get it checked out.

LucyLastik · 05/09/2013 22:13

Def push for a move forward. Don't put it off. Better to get that stuff checked out. Good luck.

scaevola · 05/09/2013 22:17

Yes, lumps need to be checked. Go to your GP. They'll get your appointment brought forward if you meet the criteria for urgent check.

Even if you are seen under the 2-week rule, it does not necessarily mean cancer is the likeliest diagnosis - a lump that appears suddenly may well be a benign cyst.

traintracks · 05/09/2013 22:22

You need to go back to the GP. Your referral is probably to a family history clinic which may not have the facilities to investigate a lump, you need a separate referral to the normal breast clinic. Good luck with it all.

Back to GP immediately.

It's probably nothing, but with your history, push away.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 05/09/2013 22:35

Yep. Back to GP.
Hope all is well for you.

AlbertoFrog · 05/09/2013 22:36

Yip - please push this and get an appointment as soon as possible. Hopefully it will just be a cyst or something non sinister but you really don't want to take chances and our gp should support you.

Very best of luck OP.

Hi there

I really hope it turns out to be nothing but book an appointment asap - with another GP if necessary. I don't know why your current doctor was reluctant to refer you?

Sorry to hear about your family history. My mum also died of Breast Cancer (she was 40, I was 12 at the time). I'm 44 now and for the past ten years or so I've been having regular check ups at my local Breast Cancer Centre - yearly mammograms. I'm on a Family History Screening Programme and I'm sure you would be eligible for this scheme. Perhaps you could ask the doctor about this too?

Best of luck. xx
