Oh it's disgusting isn't it? I have periods like this and it is so unpleasant. I find ranitidine works well though.Hope it subsides soon

I'm 28 too, and have had heartburn - it sucks doesn't it? Gaviscon is your friend, and lots of dairy.

Imnotaslimjim · 05/09/2013 17:41

Peptac!! Only thing that worked for me when it was at its worst! Though mine is much better now I've cut out wheat

chocolatesolveseverything · 05/09/2013 18:13

Mine is usually triggered when I've eaten a lot of fatty food over several days. Do you know what triggers yours op?

You have my sympathies.

Isabelonatricycle · 05/09/2013 18:26

Hegsy I'm so glad you posted this! I'm not a hypochondriac, but for the last month or so I've been having pains in my chest and it didn't occur to me that it might be heartburn. I wasn't thinking "God I'm having a heart attack at 27", but I was starting to get worried and think I ought to go to the doctor. Now I read this, look it up (google can sometimes be my friend when it comes to medical stuff!) and it's nothing to worry about. Thanks!

This might also give me the kick up the bum I need to actually start exercising properly...

RussianBlu · 05/09/2013 18:30

I had heartburn since I was a child. I wasn't believed, but I did have it!

DragonMamma · 05/09/2013 18:32

I am 29 and have suffered for years! Only Lansoprazole touches it but they think it's actually gallstones. You have my sympathies OP

Ezio · 05/09/2013 18:33

Im 30, and have it quite bad sometimes because im my IBS, its like having someone sitting on my chest.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 05/09/2013 18:35

Ranitidine tablets from £land or 99p store are great. Basically wash one down with some Gaviscon - the Gaviscon gets rid of the initial pain, and by the time that wears off the rainitidine will have kicked in. You have my sympathies, stress used to bring it on really bad for me (as in crippling pain, meds from the doc, and a bottle of Gaviscon in my pocket at all times).

sillyoldfool · 05/09/2013 18:35

don't drink milk! it seems like it should help, and it feels nice briefly, but actually makes it worse. ranitidine is v good.

KissMeHardy · 05/09/2013 20:03

What's age got to do with it? Do you think heartburn is the province of babies and old people?

HopeClearwater · 05/09/2013 20:21

Yeah that's what I thought - what's being 28 got to do with it?
I had surgery for that at around that age.

axure · 05/09/2013 20:31

Have you tried drinking peppermint tea? It really helps and is £££ cheaper than all the stuff from the chemist.

AdmiralData · 05/09/2013 20:36

Haven't had heartburn since before DS 5 months was born ... is it wrong that I miss it??? goes off to cry in an over emotional PFB mums corner

raisah · 05/09/2013 21:17

I used to suffer from horrible heart burn during my teenage years until my early 20's. My nuticionist recommended a 3 month course of acidophilus (from the chiller section of planet organic). This was 6 years ago and I havent had an attack since. The acid reflux has damaged my teeth though so do visit the dentist.
