M&S school specific uniform is bollocks

I cant ask to the uniform to be delivered at a M&S shop, has to be home delivery, only free if you buy £35 or more BUT it is not possible to add other uniform stuff such as skirts, trousers, shoes, socks in the basket together with my specific school uniform...WTF?
Standart delivery takes 5 days...

I am not amused...

Can you not pay for delivery?

Fayrazzled · 05/09/2013 13:45

Standard delivery of 5 days seems far enough if they have to badge the item though. And I expect it comes from a separate factory which is why you can't add other non-branded uniform. I think YABU... if you don't like their terms get the uniform elsewhere. It's much cheaper than our independent supplier.

Feminine · 05/09/2013 13:46

Oh, I think I understand.

You can buy the monogrammed stuff, but only by itself? right?

If you want to add bog standard uniform you can't? Grin

RUBBISH! yanbu .

I ordered some school jumpers for my sons from there on Wednesday and they were delivered on Saturday, so you might only have to wait a few days.

However, they are shockingly thin and feel poor quality. I ordered two in size 9-10 for my smaller than average 9 year old and they are VERY small.

Dorange · 05/09/2013 13:47

I can pay for delivery of course.
But I am never at home and I am sure it will not fit through the door. Than I will ned to go collect in the deport office that opens only during my working hours.
But my point is: I will have to pay for 2 deliveries if I want to buy other school stuff from them...do two separate orders.
Sure this is an unnecessary inconvenience

So I understood then.

No, you should be able to lump it all together.

Dorange · 05/09/2013 13:49

At least returns are free but probably it will be days until I get the money back...
Also the school said the quality would be a lot better... I am yet to check.
My child is required to use the monogramed stuff, so I can't buy elsewhere...

As a last resort I bought M&S school trousers, they were the only ones that I could get to fit. The quality is appalling, if you hold the fabric up to the light it's practically see through.

They need to do a petite range, the trousers I wanted to get had so much fabric they were like bloomers around DS's thighs.

Dorange · 05/09/2013 13:56

So where do I go for good quality pleated skirts that don't require ironing?

I always liked BHS for school uniform. It seemed much better quality then m&s. They do pleated skirts but as i have boys i have never bought one.

We have had horrendous uniform woes this summer - not one of the school approved trousers/skirts fits my daughter: all too short as senior girls long trousers are only a 32" (and she's really not that tall, although she does have very long legs for her height) so I feel your pain - it's all very well insisting on badged/ approved styles but you end up with nothing fitting and poor quality.

Strangely, Asda pleated school skirts are fine. My DD2 has had them for the past 3 years, is now in senior girls sizes and they fit nicely, are a good length (just on the knee) and I have never yet ironed one!

greencatseyes · 05/09/2013 14:36

Wipsglitter Next do school trousers for boys in blue, black and grey. They have three fittings - and my DSs have slim fit 'jeans style'. They also have adjustable waists. Jeans style are only ones that don't need taking up cause I can't be arsed and don't, as you say, look like bloomers on the boys.

Mine have actually managed to hand some down this year without destroying them, so good quality. Good price too.

ilovepowerhoop · 05/09/2013 16:48

I got dd's pleated skirts this year from Matalan but have also bought from Asda and Tesco in the past and they have all been good quality
