Is it a banned topic?

Some harrowing information appearing in the news - I am.surprised there is no threads at all.

Is it for fear of deletion?

I saw one earlier

OldRoan · 03/09/2013 20:34

Not sure if it is an active decision by MN HQ, but personally I think it is sensible.

Threads about on-going trials make me very uncomfortable. I agree the trial is harrowing though, regardless of who is telling the truth it is a horrific process for all concerned, and for the other people in the courtroom.

There is one further down the page - title about reading a headline and feeling sick (not sure how to link)

MissStrawberry · 03/09/2013 20:38

Maybe people have decided it isn't appropriate to have a thread about it.

TBH I feel there should be a separate topic for legal cases in the news. It can be very upsetting constantly read thread titles relating to certain things and sometimes it smacks of a total lack of understanding.

MortifiedAdams · 03/09/2013 20:40

Oops.sorry Miss for.putting another.one on there.

Fwiw I dont need this to turn into a thread about the case....more.pondering the lack.of.one.

Probably better not to have a thread. I had one a few months ago when the April Jones trial started - started it because the news coverage was horrific and dd3 is the age she was and I felt so awful for her parents. I wasn't discussing the guilt of the accused at all but people do show up who do so - and then as a sideline folks start chucking other things in to the mix around the circumstances of the crime and what starts as constructive venting and discussion of a matter of public record that's very upsetting, just becomes a bit messy and unhelpful.

For me it is all over the media almost on a daily basis and so I find I don't watch the news or buy a paper so much. I really don't want to see it on MN as well where I come to chill out where it is discussed almost as casually as the latest film. Like it is entertainment.

valiumredhead · 03/09/2013 20:55

There's one in 'in the news.'

SeaSickSal · 03/09/2013 21:23

Sub judice innit. If it's being discussed in a way that could prejudice the trial it has to go.

sub judice
