Took DS and DD to see planes this afternoon. They are 5 and 4 and it's not the first time they have been to the cinema.
DD in the end kept saying she wanted to go home. DS then started as well. Because they were so loud I took them home .

I am really cross, a waste of £20 and I didn't get to see the end of the film! Was I expecting too much of them?

I think at that age if you go to the cinema with children you have to be prepared to leave early. I would be miffed but know its the risk I take.

Planes in the only film i have bothered to pay full price for!

primallass · 03/09/2013 16:54

You didn't miss anything, it is bloody awful.

SeaSickSal · 03/09/2013 16:54

Blame the film, Planes only has 1 and a half stars on Rotten Tomatos and is supposed to be a steaming pile of doo doo. I'm not surprised they wanted to go home!

Do your research better next time and don't take them to see something rubbish!

TwoTearsInABucket · 03/09/2013 16:59

I had about three people tell me it was really good! And because they liked cars I thought they would like it.

I would have taken them to see monsters university but it wasn't on anymore. Boo.

I thought it was 'boy' film because i was bored and so was dd. now i know ds just has bad taste!

TwoTearsInABucket · 03/09/2013 17:04

Dd did go on about the pink plane, but even that plane wasn't on enough for her to stay to the end.

It was very hot in the cinema so not so bad that we left I s'pose.

DS and my nephews loved it!

Onesleeptillwembley · 03/09/2013 17:22

It's it and miss at that age. It'll get better.

Bumblebee333 · 03/09/2013 17:23

This happened to me the other day with minsters university. I have no idea how it ends.

I went to see planes on saturday and DS liked it but I think its one of those you have to watch more than onve to fully appreciate.

wonderingsoul · 03/09/2013 17:24

i dont think yabu. 4 and 5 are old enough (in my expeance) to be told to be quite or at the very most bribed with goodies.

id be cross to and wouldnt be visting the cinema any time soon.

theodorakisses · 03/09/2013 17:29

Ask for tickets to something else, they won't give you a refund but may be sympathetic especially as you took them out and none of you actually saw the film

TwoTearsInABucket · 03/09/2013 17:29

Nope we won't be wonderinsoul I said I'm never taking them again! I may have exaggerated .

I should have got a bigger bag of popcorn. We had one 30g bag of toffee popcorn each. What was I thinking?

OP posts:
theodorakisses · 03/09/2013 18:06

Well that bag probably cost the amount of a smałl house.

HeadfirstForHalos · 03/09/2013 18:11

Kids Club is good, the films are slightly older ones but it's cheap enough not to feel stung if you have to leave!

Vue and odeon both do one, Monsters University is on Odeon at the end of the month for £2:50 each.

theodorakisses · 03/09/2013 18:12

What happened there? Small obviously.

olibeansmummy · 03/09/2013 18:14

Well at that age they should be able to behave in the cinema, but dnephew has seen the film and said it was rubbish so maybe that's why. I hope not though as we're taking ds (4) at the weekend!

mrsfuzzy · 03/09/2013 18:24

that's kids being kids,

parkin2010 · 03/09/2013 18:33

If you leave a film within an hour of it starting, the cinema should refund you full price. You dont need to give a reason. Vue certainly do this :)

PrincessScrumpy · 03/09/2013 18:41

We take dd to the Saturday morning pictures at cineworld - 1 pound each. That way it doesn't matter.

TwoTearsInABucket · 03/09/2013 19:12

Yes, I shall be doing cheap cinema (if I take them that is) from now on.

Unfortunately we only had about half an hour left of the film. But good to know about the hour thing, thanks!

We went to the supermarket first and bought popcorn.

I am still grumpy. I know they're little but gawd it annoyed me!

DS used to do this a lot. In fact I only managed about 30 seconds of how to train your dragon.

He grew out of it by about 6.5..

SarahAndFuck · 03/09/2013 19:58

I don't think you were expecting too much based on their ages. DS is four and a half and we have been going to the cinema since he was just three.

The only issue we have is that he usually has to run out to the toilet, but other than that he can sit through a full film and always enjoys it.

But they all all different, and if one of them was bored and wanted to leave it perhaps encouraged the other one to do the same.

I had heard that Planes was rubbish though, so perhaps that didn't help.
