And off to uni in a couple of weeks to start a nursing degree.

I have done care work all my life and love it, I have recently finished an access course and was amazed by how much I enjoyed it.

I had a major crisis in my life when I hit 30 as I was so unfulfilled. I only had one child and wanted more, my then DH did not. I wanted to study, but he didn't see the point. I was slogging away at a job doing four nights a week, 48 hours and had little support.

By the time I hit 40, things had improved, my H had left me by then, I had met DP and we had had two children, the last one two days after my 39th birthday.

I found out about the access course and my DP encouraged me to go for it. He even made me sandwiches for lunch on the first day and put a lovely note in with them, encouraging me and wishing me luck.

He encouraged me to apply to three universities, saying we would move if I didn't get the first choice, which offers placements near to us. I will have to stay at the city uni is during uni times, but will be able to be at home when I have placement, luckily. He will be taking care of our DC, while working and using a little bit of childcare.

I know the next three years will be tough on the whole family, but we will get through it as a family and with the constant encouragement of my 18 year old DD1 too.

Anyone in a tough place right now, life can get better. It really can. Hang on in there, work at it, if you can, or just weather the storm if that is all you can manage for now.

Happy Birthday! You are now the same age as I am. Grin It's going well so far, considering I have a nearly 1yo to deal with!

Your DP sounds lovely, and I hope that you enjoy your nursing degree.

Happy Birthday Boosterseat, a good day to have a birthday, although I hated always having to go back to school on my brithday when I was a kid. It always seemed to happen, although it can't have really.

My DS has a birthday in two days and he actually started school on his 5th one.
