Ok so in a nutshell: dh and I have invited his parents down for Christmas they have never spent that time with dc as they live in London were in the west country and work etc.. Has always got in the way and they are thrilled that this year they get to have this experience. I've just had a phone call from dm chewing me out for not inviting them! They live 20 mins away and have seen dc either every Xmas day or Boxing Day since they were born! And have been invited for Boxing Day this year so aibu to think dmil and dfil are also entitled to have at least one Xmas with their grandchildren?

Can they not come to?

Dramamama · 02/09/2013 11:08

They don't really get on tbh but do make an effort when they have to get together I just can't be doing with the inevitable tension created on Christmas Day when I should be enjoying that time with dc, Boxing Day I can handle it as I usually have friends there too and they tend to bridge the gap and make it a bit easier going iyswim?

YANBU, of course your PIL should have a Christmas with your children. Is your DM jealous, if she and the PIL don't get on?

Dramamama · 02/09/2013 11:27

I think that's exactly the problem eyes! But she has absolutely no cause to feel jealous it's one Christmas of many and pil get to see dc twice a yr at most! She see's them on a weekly basis, she was the same in the run up to our wedding calling me 5 times a day just to make sure mil wasn't butting in!!! (Which she would never btw) I'm just starting to feel exhausted constantly having to reassure her that she is a massive part of all our lives and nothing will change that because it seems to go in one ear and out the other!
