To feel a bit tearful about my DC going back to school?

On one hand I am glad, I've run out of cash and ideas!

But another part of me is sad, we have had such a lovely summer. They will go back to yrs 8 and 10, and all of a sudden their school years are galloping by. Not looking forward to getting up in the morning. And dreading winter this year, after it seemed to go on forever last year.

You're not bu, it's how I usually feel. This year I'm also relieved they're going back as well as my dd13 has wanted to do very little with me and my dd10 has been very self-sufficient as well. It's the healthy way to be, I don't want introverted insecure teenagers, but it's sad too.

My house has never been so clean and tidy at end of summer hols!

I love the lack of structure in the summer hols - no music lessons, sports fixtures or after school stuff. Life is so much more relaxing.

However, my lazy 10 year old son could do with someone else's boot being applied to his bottom now, so I am not sure that I will be too upset!

Yanbu!
My DD goes back Thursday and then DS starts pre school in Jan! I love having them at home, doing what we want and getting uP when we want. House feels horrible when they are not here!

Ledkr · 02/09/2013 13:06

Feel the same. I also love the hols even though I work part time through them.
I love the relaxed feeling in the house, no packed lunches, homework or schedules.
Love eating late or going out in the evening or swimming in 7 at night then getting chips for tea.
I am sad!

DS1 hates school and is dreading going back. I'm dreading the morning battle to get him there, holidays are respite even though I have to work for some of them.

If I had read this thread yesterday I would have agreed. Had a lovely summer with my DDs who go into year 8 on Friday. Usually great company and they get on well but today has been awful. Constant arguing and even getting physical with each other which I haven't seen since they were tots. Think they need a break from one another.

Oh no, YABU. We had some good times, and for once my childcare situation was sorted well in advance (what do you people who all have the whole summer off do!?) but I am soooo ready for school to start again.
I work 4 days a week and am looking forward to my free day next week when I am going to sort thejungle garden. Alone. With my i pod on. In peace. Bliss!

I also work three to four days a week.
and will miss my son even more so due to this fact.
as he has been with babysitters and childminders most of the time I have missed him even more.
