To have woke the children as I had to go to the shop

Wife has been in and out of hospital for the last week and I have had things on my mind.

We have a prepayment for our electricity and I stupidly forgot to top the key up after it went on to electricity.

It ran out tonight just after our 18 mo twins had gone to bed.

It would have taken less than 5 minutes to go to the shop and top up - but even so I got the twins up and took then and our 6 mo with me. A couple of friends since have said why did I bother waking them - for the time I was gone it wasn't worth getting them up.

WIBU.

Are they saying you should have left them home alone?

waitmonkey I am pretty sure op is asking if he did the right thing, in light of his friends comments!

differentnameforthis · 01/09/2013 05:09

CorrinaKedavra Back off the op!

His wife is ill & he is doing what he needs to wrt his family, as well as worrying about his wife in hospital.

He overlooked one thing. You are either being way to over the top & don't know it, or you are trying to make this into a useless husband thing, which it isn't!

Either way, there is no need to be so harsh! He knows he has been stupid.

waltzingmathilda Did you read the op? She is ill in hospital.

Trazzletoes · 01/09/2013 07:36

Corinna this isn't a competition about who has the most difficult family circumstances! I'm sure your situation is a lot more difficult than the OPs. However this isn't day to day stuff for him. As in, I doubt he's normally looking after the DCs and his wife. Cut him some slack and back off with your aggressive tone.

Yes he should have been better organised but he knows for next time! And telling someone to stop lolling and buck their ideas up isn't actually wonderful practical advice.

Ilovemyself · 01/09/2013 09:14

corinna. Firstly I was not looking for a medal. I was looking for confirmation that my view was right. Which I got ( Thanks all)

And running out of electricity hasn't happened before because normally I go out and get it regularly. I forgot it had gone on to emergency.

And step up! What a condescending comment. I provide for the family I created by being here for them, ensuring that they have everything they need and have their days seem as normal as possible, whilst trying to fit it around hospital visits. Thankfully my boss has been very understanding despite being less than 2 months into a new job.

Unless you are sat outside my house watching my every move and know me well I suggest that you make comments on what you actually know about and not what you are guessing about.

And the lol is because no one died because of my mistake. If I had run out of formula, or had left the kids at home, or got pissed last night then fine I wouldn't be joking.

I guess you have never made a mistake though.

For the rest - thanks. I knew I was right but just wanted to check. Now, off to get my medal.................

Asking a neighbour to sit.... Unless you have their phone number, wouldn't it have taken the same amount of time to go next door and ask? And leave them alone while you did so?

LottieJenkins · 01/09/2013 09:22

Well done OP! Corinna why are you giving him such a hard time??? Hmm

CorrinaKedavra · 01/09/2013 09:23

Fair point Trazzle. You too er, ILoveMyself. Wasn't formula or heating and you knew you were right. Still not sure why you needed to check and I take it you can't rely on these mates to babysit Shock . Sorry for the aggressive tone.

Gah. I also meant to ask if your supplier does have an online option. I'm with British Gas and they sent me a machine I can put my key into and top up from home. I'm quite resticted with my two and was thinking of the nightmare of having to drag them out in winter when I ordered it. Would make life a bit easier with three babies also I should imagine.

Ilovemyself · 01/09/2013 09:34

Thanks Corrina. Not too many on here would do that Grin.

And everlong. We don't know. Taken in a week ago today, released on Thursday and back in on Friday night. It's a gallbladder issue but they won't remove until all of the infection is gone.

She says she would rather go through labour 1000000 times rather than the pain she had. Now obviously I can't relate to that..........

I will check the online option but I don't believe so. :-(. Thanks for that.

I hope they do. I know your shop isn't far away but even a five minute trip is a major production with a pushchair, snowsuits hats and gloves for three.

ILetHimKeep20Quid · 01/09/2013 09:45

I run out of electricity loads!

Squitten · 01/09/2013 10:06

You're doing fine Mr. Keep going.

Hope your wife is better soon!
