Car wash in our pup car park!

I live in a quiet road a little way up from a pub which is normally quite quiet except for a lil bit of live music at the weekend which is fine.
This morning I've been woken up by the sound of a noisy generator and the constant hiss of a high powered jet wash Confused I looked out of the window to see a circus type spectacle of show proportions with 6 of those long type flags (think car showroom) around the pub car park and cars lined up, blokes shouting etc..etc..It seems overnight we now have a large car wash in the car park of the pub! Shock they will be trading 7 days a week and offering competitive prices...The small marquee they are working from is about a foot from the bungalow next to the pub..it has just been sold but new owners have not moved in yet Sad. With the cars queuing to get in its going to cause major traffic problems too. I know that pub car parks sell shellfish and flowers which they already do outside of the pub but a fekin mammoth 7 day a week all day car wash....is this legal even? AIBU to be wanting it gone???

I've spoken to licencing first thing and apparently there's nothing they can do because car park is seen as separate from pub Hmm I then rang planning and guess what folks?????BINGO! Grin they DO NOT have planning permission to run a sideshow car wash there. The duty enforcement officer will be paying them a visit MaureenMLove I would also advise you to ring planning if you can and make your feelings known. This lil lady is going to claim back her weekends and make this neighbourhood SAFE! Wine Thanks for all your advice xxx

Brilliant news! I will get on to planning first thing. I've been out all day today and not back as soon as I'd hoped, but I will do it!

howdy neighbours ! hmmm, not impressed with this and the council will shut them down in a flash.

I can see the flags have disappeared from where I am, it looks like there are cars parked where they were washing.

Is it good news from up there Salsmum? DH phoned planning in the end, I kept not being in a position to do it!

I love a happy ending and people helping their neighbours, well done ladies and gentlemen.

Any update? Is the car wash definitely closed down now?

Sorry for not getting back sooner it's been really manic lately...Not very happy with plannings response ..they DID NOT have planning permission BUT hey presto! applied the same week as they opened. Planning say they can operate while application goes through..we have to wait for letters to go around in order to then oppose it...IF they hadn't have applied for Planning the enforcement officer would have to serve them with an enforcement notice and it could take up to 9 months to shift em Shock the cheeky fekers then put 3 cards through my door (after I signed petition) saying that from early sept they would be open SEVEN DAYS A WEEK (instead of the original 2) from 9-7pm..feeling really Angry now! I think they will be operating for quite some time...the local paper have expressed an interest though. Wink x
