Was a massive fan of rolf harris in the 1980s watching his art shows after school. I cant believe he has now been charged with activity from the 1980 to last year. Am i being unreasonable to be upset on hearing this news despite the fact ive never meet him.

At some point this whole thing is going to turn bad as all sorts of people get on the bandwagon

Turn bad?

Oh yes what a fun bandwagon to get on eh.

Whatever the verdict of the trial, this is sad for everyone concerned :( Sad for the girls involved, sad for the public to whom Rolf Harris has given pleasure to over the years, sad for Rolf (if found innocent), sad for his family....

Re the pictures that were "made" last year, I hope it doesn't turn out to be something like this case where a grandfather was accused of having child pornography when it turned out it was innocent pictures of his own grandchildren playing in the back garden on a hot day (which he hadn't been able to recognise due to the lascivious way in which they were described to him - and the CPS hadn't even been given copies when they made the initial decision to prosecute, only the written description from the police) Hmm

I think it was last year, a member of a band I used to like when I was younger was convicted of some truly horrible things involving babies

Are you sure that this trial has happened?

It's just there's a case due to be heard in November which involves the lead singer of a well known UK rock band and the abuse of a baby. The person I'm referring to has been held in custody for quite some time.

There wasn't another similar case last year was there?

EldritchCleavage · 30/08/2013 13:43

Agree Shelly- there has been no trial as yet.

I hardly imagine that there will be a queue of women lining up to claim they were abused when they in fact were not. Allegations of historic abuse are notoriously hard to bring to court and many women who have been abused feel shame and hide it. To state otherwise buys into the belief that women lie about abuse for gain and so cannot be trusted.
