Yes, it's hard work to arrange. Yes, it's very expensive. Yes, you are going to have to decide whether to put pink frilly placemats on all the tables and whether guests want small bags of sugared almonds (and no, they don't).

But please SHUT UP about it.

(disclaimer: OK, I'm having a bad day and ABU about most things)

To be fair, sometimes wedding plans get complicated, especially when other people stick their oar in.

I came v close to falling out with my parents as they tried to take over. The cake, the dress, the guests - my mum and dad wanted their own way.

I didn't realise I'd been taking so much about my wedding till someone at work made a commentBlush in my rather poor defence people keep asking, I think cos it's an easy conversation topic in the kitchen!

Thanks, ZipIt, I really appreciate that.

I think that things get stressful about weddings because there are so many components. Factor in some very eccentric and demanding parents, the dressmaker being sectioned 2 months before the wedding, the dog eating the bottom bit of the cake, your mother getting severe shingles 3 weeks before, your groom being involved in a RTA, the marquee company going bust, the photographer somehow double booking you and not being available at all and so on and so on & it all turns into some kind of pythonesque nightmare. Not saying all of those things happened to me, but a sizeable proportion did & you do turn into a rabid, ranting mad person.

15 years on & and 8 years divorced, I still hyperventilate if I think about it for too long!!!!!

Oh jesus PBB you mean the scars won't even be healed in 15 years time? Even if I divorce DH? Shitting hell I'd better get used to this twitchy eyelid and erratic breathing then....

YABU - I love bags of sugared almonds Smile

ZipIt · 28/08/2013 17:59

Actually, chesterberry, I have to confess I also love sugared almonds. But in massive jars, not poncy little bags. And I like eating them, not talking about them. Yum.
