To think 'liking' someone is what my generation would call 'fancying'? (poss facebook influence?)

I'm not sure if it's an FB influence...it might be a regional thing?

I'm 44 and we used to say 'fancy' but my cousins (some from Ireland) used to say 'like'.

You could tell the difference between a normal 'like' and a fancying 'like' by the way they said it Grin

Oh, you could always tell if someone meant they fancied someone else by the way they said, "oh, I like him," or "Oh, I like him!" (Not Irish - south of England.)

I grew up in the 80's and 90's and we said 'like' for when you had a crush on someone ( I didn't grow up in the uk however)
Definitely not fb related

Besides if it was related to fb wouldn't it be more likely to be ' ooh Johnny is soooo gorgeous, i really want to poke him'
