Looking at nurseries for 18mo dd and blubbing!

Ffs! She's 18mo, happy, confident and communicates her needs effectively. She is sociable and will in short absolutely LOVE nursery!

Assuming I can find her a place in a choice of 5 fairly local nurseries, in the next 2 weeks because Ive been offered a place I wasn't expecting on an access course.

An access course I was very excited about... Until I started looking at nurseries!

Can I just ask if you have considered checking out childminders?

Or are they more expensive? My DGC go to a lovely childminder and my DD really wanted that for them - more "homely" IYSWIM?

SkinnybitchWannabe · 25/08/2013 15:25

Every parent feels exactly the same, just picture her little smiling face when shes having lots of fun...and the big hugs you will get when you pick her up.

HerrenaHarridan · 25/08/2013 15:37

Yes have been looking at both and may have to use a childminder until I can get a place.

If dd was younger I would probably be more inclined to childminder, but I honestly think she would prefer the hustle and bustle ofnursery.

I don't think there is a massive price difference though I'm not sure.

I just want to pet my lip!

Dies anyone know if she will have to so the whole session. Ie session is 0730-1330 and 12.30-1830 if I am doing 9-2 or whatever can I pick her up when I'm done Blush

You will most likely have to pay for the whole day but she can do whatever you want in that time period.

HerrenaHarridan · 25/08/2013 15:47

Oh good that's a relief, I had visions of me moping around unable to collect my pfb dd until dinner and bed time.

But you may well find that it works well and gives you extra time for library and stuff

Snoopingforsoup · 25/08/2013 17:51

You'll be fine and probably the choice will be determined on places available.

The first nursery I viewed was gorgeous, but you'd think I'd just witnessed a war-torn orphanage such were the tears.

My DS loved nursery and never ever glanced back when I dropped him in.

Good luck OP.

CatsRule · 25/08/2013 18:45

My ds is 18 months and.still very clingy but he goes into nursery fine and waves me away....and he is always happily playing away when I pick him up.

He goes to.nursery half of the week and my mums the other half so is getting a good balance and I see him developing well in nursery.

It is hard at first but when you see her doing.well and happy to.be there you will be able to enjoy.your course.

I'm glad it's not just me being a wuss!

Every time I look at nursery websites or try and discuss it I get all weepy. Blush
