I mean, the first thing you do after touching a hand soap pump is wash your hands so what is the point?

I was thinking this myself the other day - esp. when you still have to touch the tap!

Smoorikins · 23/08/2013 22:10

They are good for people that only have the use of one hand.

MintyDiamonds · 23/08/2013 22:11

Yanbu.

MrsHelsBels74 · 23/08/2013 22:14

True Smoorkins I hadn't considered that, but they're selling it on the hygiene aspect & I just don't get it.

Our local tesco has no touch toilet flush, no touch soap dispenser AND no touch taps. It's all very hygienic. But then you have to touch the door handle to get out and you're back to square one with germy hands.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 23/08/2013 22:14

So you missed the thread earlier this week then Grin

They are pointless from the pov of avoiding germs, but great for using when you have been painting/gardening/baking etc so you don't get crap all over the soap dispenser and yes, great for people with only one hand - much easier.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 23/08/2013 22:18

I love mine, it is so much easier when my hands are covered in dirt / paint / or I have just man handled a chicken. I don't want to dirty my dispenser as then I would have to clean it more frequently.

YippeeKiYayMakkaPakka · 23/08/2013 22:19

I thought they'd be good for toddler DD1 as they're easier to operate. But the refills cost about £3 when you can get normal handwash for £1 on offer, and they dispense (imo) about 3 times as much soap as you need, so you go through it really fast. So mine now sits in the bathroom cabinet, unused, and I've gone back to normal handwash.

MrsHelsBels74 · 23/08/2013 22:20

Was there a thread earlier this week Blush

I don't come in AIBU very often, it scares me!

but if you spend hours gardening/mucking out pets/painting they are good as you don't get the stuff everywhere

ILiveInAPineappleCoveredInSnow · 23/08/2013 23:34

They are a novelty for getting your almost 6 year old DS to wash his hands after "only" a wee!!!

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 23/08/2013 23:48

MrsHelsBels - toughen up - it's mostly a laugh! Grin Though, it has to be said, it was much better years ago when you could just tell the twats to fuck off Grin

Yes there was - much the same as yours - but that's OK, if we banned all threads that had been done before, MN would be empty!!
