AIBU to make H re-do uniform shopping?

He's moaning A LOT about how much I've spent.

Spent £220 for 2 DCs. The school have moved sites and we have a new uniform from September, completely different colour from the last, so I've had to buy EVERYTHING from new.

AIBU to cancel the online orders and make him do it himself? Might shut him up for an hour or two at the least Confused

Never checked receipts - that I'm aware of! He's not usually this bad but can be a bit odd regarding money.

My friend's DH moaned about the impending cost of his DD's shoes, so she sent him out to buy them. Bear in mind the school is uber strict about uniform and shoes, when you get a place in the school you get a A4 sheet with pictures of acceptable shoes.

So she sent him out to do it, the DD kept trying to pull a fast one, so he resorted to photographing possible candidates and sending them to her from the shoe shop. We sat at home drinking wine and cross referencing the photos to the sheet and saying yay or nay or possibly.

Grin

He was strung out by the time he got home and pales visibly when school shoes are mentioned. Grin Grin

It costs what it costs! You can't wash everything every day, and school rules are school rules. I'd be tempted to tell him to sod off.

Idespair · 23/08/2013 16:28

I wash everyday and generally function with one set of uniform each. However, that doesn't mean that's all I have/need - what if they come home without a jumper - how do you wash it then?! What if they tore their one pair of trousers etc etc. You definitely need more than one set even if you do tonnes of washing like I do. Your H is being silly and doesn't understand the reality of what's needed.

YANBU. Definitely make him do it next time. Wink

I've just spent £120 on my two DCs, but that's not buying everything as a lot is good from last year.

Tell him he's lucky. I'd have bought them three polo tops each and two pairs of trousers. Probably a few new pairs of socks, pants and jim jams too.

DD's going into Y11 in sept. Haven't bought her any uniform since Year 8 but I thought 5 blouses were essential (at 30 a piece). Reckon I spend 50 quid a year on opaque tights (the get holey - don't ask how) and about 50+ on bras. Hem - at a point the boobs take over from feet :)

I'd love to do wifeswap with your DH. He'd be begging for you to come home.

Last year I spent about £300 on shoes, trainers for PE and rugby boots for my three, luckily they are all boys and so I get to hand stuff down.

Just buy the logged sweatshirts ( actually I don't even do that as Ds3 hates them, I buy jumpers in the same colour ) and don't bother with bags and polos etc.
