To ask you to wish me happy bday

Its my birthday today and its been crap so far.Dh has just got in late from work (3am). He has an important meeting tmw so can't take anytime off. We've had a row, now he's sleeping on the coach. I have no childcare tmw & he says he has no money to buy me anything but can afford a cheap meal out. Everybody's away & it's raining. I want to do something self indulgent for my birthday but I can't. Feeling sorry for myself but hopefully I'll get over if by the morning.

Hope you have a nice birthday today - you know tell your husband that what you want is a big bar of chocolate and then eat it with him on the sofa when the kids are off in bed. Even if you are both really skint a choc bar can be paid for in coppers and 5ps. Agree with OP who said don't do out for dinner. Fish and chips or a cake is cheaper and then everyone in the house has a wee treat on your special day. DH and myself were once skint on Valentine's day and we did just that and had a bottle of bubbly that we had been saving. We still remember that one Valentine's Day but none of the others. Don't fight with your DH, it's tough for him too and he probably feels bad that he can't treat you the way he'd like to. Things will get better.

Perhaps you could do what I have done in the past and nominate a more convenient day (I spent years either taking or marking exams on my birthday , so I just moved it! And a bit of pampering doesn't need expense, just thought

Happy Birthday! Get a lovely bubble bath going, candles a vat bottle of wine shut the door and pamper yourself insisting you are not disturbed while your dh handles childcare.
