ds2 is 4, and has been classed developmently delayed, though he has caught up alot, though i still feel hes not quite there yet.

him and his brother had been beyound naughty today, but had taken em to tesco to do the shop. i was lining up, and they where about 5 foot away to my side, i could hear ds2 singing gangman style, but ignored him in the hope of getting stuff paid done quickly, after a minute or two i turned to call them and hes got his jeans down mooning and dancing. thinking its hilariouse. obviousely he got told of, apogised and we left sharpish with me utterly humilated and him crying.
he lost his movie for the night. when we got home he apogised and said he was very sorry. and they both where well behaved for the rest of the evening.

its been a reall busy 3 days. out all day friday, babysitting and shopping out of town, wedding all saturday, lunch at my mums sunday then a sleep over at a friend as she needed me to babysit her 8,4,3 and 4 month old for 730 till 3ish so thought it best to sleep over.

i mention this as it was stressfull and todays last advent was the cherry one the top.
i feel like im failing and my kids are going to grow into vile thugs who back chat, moon people and end up with asbo's.

ds1 never went through this.. and ds2 has a few history events. like flooding my bathroom at 5 in the morning, peeing on the pavment to trip buglers up while playing cops n robbers, stuffing bread down the loo after me telling him he couldnt have a chocolate sandwhich and taking a dump on it.

he is an extreaml;y happy child 90 percent of the time, lives in own little world most of the time, is cheeky and you can just see the michieve in his eyes. hes extreamly loving and funny. but when he plays up he really plays up. he really test's me.

im guessing im asking if its in the normal range of naughtynes?

he responds better to possative prise and that over the top well doen for small things which makes him do more. the wall/naughty step work to.
where am i going wrong?

Oh dear! I think probably it is in the normal range but is attention seeking too.
It sounds like u have had a lot on and he playing on that.

AgentZigzag · 20/08/2013 00:29

He sounds annoying but gorgeous, like most children.

90% is pretty good going to me, and definitely not an indicator that he's going to end up in the gutter Grin

It's lovely he said sorry twice, I would say play up to that loads and play down the other stuff, still tell him off but make him want to get the 'you're such a good boy' bits.

You sound like you're handling as best you can and getting good results, not wrong at all.

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/08/2013 00:59

Well that is rather naughty, but not abnormally so I don't think.

Two of my three boy cousins were close in age to me and each other (less than two years between the three of us) They were so naughty as little boys! Cheeky little boys who bounced off each other (i used to merrily join in). All in our 20's now and fine.

It sounds awfully stressful for you, but I really don't think he was out of the ordinary in his being naughty. Him saying sorry more than once is good. I'd focus on that as a positive rather than his naughty behaviour as a negative.

If I'd seen him I'd have definitely laughed and thought "cheeky so and so". I've definitely seen worse!

mrssprout · 20/08/2013 01:17

Sounds to me like you have quite a full on little boy who has gone a bit over the top after your busy days. I would be quite reassured by the fact that he said sorry after. I think you would have more reason to be concerned if, after you told him off, he wasn't at all sorry or argued the point with you (speaks from experience here unfortunately). Seems like he can have quite naughty behaviour but I wouldn't flag it just yet as beyond "normal" little boy behaviour.

Stressedtothehilt · 20/08/2013 07:07

I'd say normal. Boys tend to do the toilet humour naughty things. My dd2 was 4 this week and she's quite naughty, she coloured in the white faschias on patio door in blue felt tip, pulled her curtain pole door (repeatedly!), breaks things, rips wallpaper, hides food she doesn't like the list could go on! But she's adorable

waltzingmathilda · 20/08/2013 07:46

Perfectly normal, mine have done worse.

The only thing that would make me go Hmm is this bit:

stuffing bread down the loo after me telling him he couldnt have a chocolate sandwhich and taking a dump on it.

Defecating because you cant get your own way? that possibly could have underlying issues

wonderingsoul · 20/08/2013 08:26

thak you, i feel reasured that he's not some asbo 4 year old. its so hard at times, i sometimes wonder if he'd be better of with some one else, not because they would love him or treat him better, but because they could bring him up to be better behaved and give them thigns that i cant.

walt's it was a while befor i found it, so i think he had done it, forgot it, than gone and done.. i dont think he think he thought aha ill take a dump on it as well... well i hope not. Confused

i taoatly agree with playing on the posative. that works really well for him, but sometimes i just forget or just dont have any angery left, i am going out saturday on my own, so hopfully it'll re-charge my batteries.

Have a lovely image now of your DS causing chaos at the Armistice Parade.
