to ask how much housework you do?

I have a DH who is a bit of a hoarder which makes housework tricky, and he does sod all. But those are another issue.

Just wonder what is the norm for others? We both work full time. I have a horse (or three, keeping them into their dotage....) so that takes up a bit of time. I leave the house around 7am and get back between 7 and 7.30pm.

What do others do? (no children atm)

All i manage weekdays is a bit of washing, washing up and a wipe round in the kitchen. Just not enough time or inclination but i have done a few hours today (day off) and plan more for the weekend. I am very busy during the week, fairly stressful job, and started to resent doing housework one of my two days off at the weekend. But it hasn't lasted long.

Just wondred what others did though always knew it would be more than me!

I do as little cleaning as possible. On a normal day I do washing up, cooking, sorting out washing, bins when needed, clean kitchen surfaces and sink. Things like hoovering floors and cleaning the bathroom are extras that I do when I get around to it or when they need doing. Bathroom floor gets mopped after most showers.Hmm

I'm a single parent with an adult son with SEN. We tidy up after ourselves. The house doesn't get very dirty. Skirting boards get done when hoovering and dusting when I notice or think of it. It doesn't seem to get dusty. Gardening every 2 or 3 weeks or less. Windows occasionally.

Sorry, what is the point of this thread? Confused

Do you just want to know how much housework other mners do? Why?

Will it make a difference to what you do? I don't get it.

We both work from home.

DH does all cooking and washing up. I do everything else including gardening.

I spend approx an hour each morning on house work and laundry and two hours a week gardening.

Bugger all or at least as little as possible. I HATE cleaning!

Both work so we have a cleaner & try to tidy a bit in between if people are coming round & we buy as many labour saving devices as possible Grin

Omg at people hoovering and cleaning bathrooms every day! I am clearly a total slob. I work part time and have one toddler, my dh works full time. We have a cleaner for three hours every week. Otherwise I do most of the washing and cooking. Wipes sides and sweep floor after spills. Change bedding every so often Grin. Tidy and and occasionally extra bits. Also do a bit in the garden. We share mowing and I grow some veg.

As little as I can get away with, while not living in a hovel.

Lounge/kitchen hoovered every other day, ish.

Hoover all the way through including stairs (HATE this) once a week. This involves making the DD's clean their rooms so factors in tantrum time. Dusting/front window cleaning happens the same day

Kitchen always looks like a bombsite. I have no dishwasher so there is always something to be washed. It looks good on a Sunday at about 12noon for half an hour, before I start dinner, as I spend most of The Archers cleaning the kitchen.

Bathroom gets wiped over as I notice it's dusty, or we have guests. I do throw bleach down the loo most days though.

Sheets washed most weeks, sometimes it's two weeks. Towels washed once there is enough for a load.

Reading that I loom like I'm in control. But I don't feel it. Living in a tiny house helps, cos if people are due to come over it's damn quick to tidy.

Washing up and tidying as I go along, kitchen cleaned, floors swept and bed made once a day, bathroom and cats litter tray every couple of days, changing bed, dusting, hoovering and mopping once a week. Skirting boards and behind the sofas etc probably once a month. Laundry at least one load a day.

Can't remember the last time I cleaned the windows though. Blush

I find I spend a lot less time doing it like this than when we used to leave most of it until the weekend. It probably takes 30 mins a day if you average it out.
